Thread: Musicians love Flix>?

    Guys,

someone correct me if I'm wrong but Flix is a way for musicians to stream their sound and not have it nicked...(protect the SWF)

    the response time is brilliant...

if I do another Flash animation to go alongside the FlixStreamedMusic (as long as it has the same frame rate) will the sync between the loadmovieSWFsoundfromFlix be roughly in sync with my animation

Also how would these two SWF's behave on different machines?

    Well...

No, you can "protect" your music the same way in Flash. But there is no decent protection. There are easy to find tools that remove such protects.

As for the streamin question. I'm not sure. I can think of several factors that may play a part in whether or not the music will stream with the main timeline, but I tend to think it's not possible.

If you want to "protect" your music better, you would need Real Producer and RealServer. Then you could stream music to users without allowing an actual download.

Unfortunately, SWFs won't provide you with much protection -- other than that they can only be played by the Flash player (and portable players and even pc players such as winamp do not play swf's). The best protection is to make the quality lower than CD quality (say, FM radio quality). Then if people steal it, they don't have something that is good to make copies from.
Real (and the other formats) have streaming technology that will prevent the media from being cached on the user's computer, but then all a hacker has to do is run a line out and back in to capture the audio.
The best way to use Flix for audio is to encode the audio at the same SWF framerate as the parent SWF. Then you won't have any problems. If you encode it at a different swf framerate, your parent will end up playing at the same speed as the music swf.
