Which program is the best for making sFX's like "button-sounds" or "beams"

A really good (probably the best) digital DJ software:

Does auto beatmatching, queuing, scratching, and all sorts of playlist programming.

The most powerful softsynth and softsamplers you can get are by bitheadz, the unity ds-1 and as-1. They didn't port over to windows XP, so that's a tad annoying, but if you can find the older versions it is totally worth it to dual boot a win98 machine *only for this software*... I'd have a direct link but the site's easy enough to navigate.

Finally, I think FruityLoops (now known as FL Studio) is a great all in one solution that is quick and intuitive, unlike Reason and all that "knob software" that has a pretty steep learning curve.

I believe for sound generation, FL Studio and unity as1 are plenty, but there are bits of software (shareware, even) that will synthesize tones just fine. DirectX/VST plugins will expand the power of your synth, but a tone and waveform editor should be enough. Heck I used one program to manually draw soundwaves to achieve the tone I wanted.
