I need to make an animation of a nut being screwed onto a bolt....being new to animation, my question is this...Do you all do this stuff by drawing something on paper, scanning it and then making slight changes to it (transform/skew/etc) in photoshop and tweening between the seperate images? Or doing it frame-by-frame? Or am I going about this all wrong?

My first attempt at animation is the swimming fish on my website (click my lame footer)...it was one picture of a fish that I scanned, then made two additional skews on the fins, then put them in order, frame-by-frame. Is this the proper method? Is there an easier way? Should I be using some different program to create the animation and import it?

    Argh!!!

    unusual name for a topic....

Well it looks like you using photoshop to animate with instead of flash.
Your method isn't the wrong way it's just not commonly used.
Click here to see a different way of importing images into flash.
As for the bolt and nut I get back to you that....
