SWfx does not currently support saving files in a format other than swf (and I don't know if it ever will, to tell you the truth). What you can do though, is to use one of the Flash 3 effects and import it into the main timeline Flash (as opposed to importing it into it's own movie clip....as far as I can tell from the testing I have done, Flash only exports what is on the main timeline). You can then add any other effects or graphics that you want and choose .gif from the Formats tab in the Publish Settings. Once you check this box, another tab appears and this is where you set your options for saving the gif.

    I hope this helps

That might have to do with what I said about everything having to be on the main timeline for it to export properly. If you have any of your animations going on inside of a movie clip, you won't see any of it in the exported gif.

Here are a couple of examples. The one on the left is an animated gif published from Flash after importing one of the Flash 3 effects onto the main timeline. I turned everything on the last keyframe into a symbol and tweened it to get the fade out effect. The one on the right is the same thing published as a swf. It is about half as big and runs a lot smoother, but as you can see....it can be done.

If you still can't get it to work, maybe you could send me the fla that you are trying to export from.

I had another thought.....make sure that you send the files to the address that I gave you in the email instead of replying to the mail I sent you. This was generated by Flash Kit when I sent you the mail from the link under your signature and can't be replied to directly.

Let me know if you are having a problem with either of the addresses I sent you.
