Hi, i've made an example for embeding and controling
the flix-encoded swf-files in your own flash-file.
You can find the Fla-File on my webserver:
http://hendrichs.de/flix/
(just click on the flix.zip)
Happy flixing,

Looks pretty good. Thanks for sharing. Have you thought of submitting it to the "Movies" section of flashkit.com?

thanks for the source code
hey Megaron
thanks for the zip file. check out this video jukebox i'm trying to make. its basically the same thing as the Wildform one, only for live show footage.
http://www.theexitrock.com/flash/videodummy2.html
the pause and play buttons don't work yet and at this point i need to figure out how to preload those external SWFs from within the parent movie since Flix doesn't allow us to create a preloader from within the Flix interface.
I know that 56k users will not get a smooth playback without the preloader for my 3 minute video clip. All 3 versions play back fine over a cable modem connection (around 380Kbps at the time of viewing). if ya get a chance to check it out, let me know your online connection speed.
thanks again,
timShaya

Hi Scott,
yes, i've postet it to flashkit.com.
And i also did a new preloading-action
into my movie (with "totalframes" and
"percent loaded"-option. Just look at:
http://hendrichs.de/flix/flix.zip
and get the original source-code.
Now that's what i call a preloader! *g*

I was scratching my head about how to preload FLIX myself. Also, how to automatically send a high quality version or a low quality version depending on connection speed.
Basically, I load the movie to a target. Then I have a countdown mc that after 2 seconds checks to see if a significant amount of the video is loaded, lets say 20 frames. If it's less than that, then I load the low quality version into the same target, thereby stopping the loading of the large High Quality file.
For preloading, what I did was to show keyframes from the video as it loads. I position the flix clip centered and at 25% and as a certain number of frames loads the preloader clip tell targets the FLix clip to jump to that frame. That way the user can see a loading progress and be entertained by the stills.
check out http://www.2002lancer.com go to Evo VII and select movie. If you have a dial up you'll see the smaller movie and the stills as it's loading. DSL and Cable people will just see the movie start up as soon as they get there. Sorry.
