Recolor a button? Why doesnt paint stick?

Hello everyone,

I keep running into this problem.

After I make a button ( or when I import an fla to
experiment on)

I always seem to want to repaint it, or change something.

I select all the paint/ drawining tools and the

paint never sticks. Why is this? Sometimes you can

see the color paint the stage below, which you have to
then remove.

this is so annoying. Does anybody know what I mean?

make sure that you are working in the button's layer, and for changing the color of a button you need to edit the button itself - right click and choose "edit" then you can go to the different frames of the button and change things - make sure the layers are not locked too
