Can you try the link again and tell me if you are still having problems? The link you are being redirected to is the Microsoft Agent Technology download page.
Are you able to view the swish examples?
-
Hi there. Tried the link again. It worked this time. And, yes, could see examples. This morning I tried over and over. Relaunched the browser, tried another browser. You have any idea why this might have happened??? Thanks. And thanks for your posting your tutorials. Aloha.

It's directing you to the sight so you can download the necessary components to see and hear Merlin (an animated character speak to you. I changed the source to prohibit the automatic redirection. Thanks for letting me know.

Hi Joel
I checked out the newest editions to your page. If you want to view a complex mouseover check out the bud swamp in my sig. Some clickables or mouseovers lead to different paths and like yours was entirely done in swish. Im working on a couple games now that when posted will knock your socks off.......er, I hope. lol. Nice job on your page. ~Jer~

Thanks. I've been with Swish and this forum for the past 30 days and I came across your bud swamp before. Looks good. It reminds me of my Bud Swamp screensaver I use to have. Keep up the good work and share your ideas with everyone.
Have you checked my Catch Me If You Can game? Short and small - perfect for a preloader. Click on my sig (the running man) and see what happens.
You have to be precise.
The full version is at my sight.

Image tutorial?...
Hi Velez!
Great job and thanks a lot for sharing the swi files!
Most of them are able to download OK, but when I try to DL the image tutorial, I keep getting the "explosion.swi" file... I think it's supposed to be "tutorial.zip" or something...
Please help, Nick

Sorry, thanks for letting me know.
The link is fixed. If you have any questions regarding the swi just post on this thread.

(Joe): I downloaded the 400K+ zip file and extracted the
.swi's. Maybe I need new glasses, but I just can't find
an action command in the 1st movie telling it to load
the next one. What am I missing here??? I even tried
changing the zeros to ones at the front of each file
(maybe I misunderstood your instructions to David?).
Help! Thanks.

First, go back and download again. I changed the file just a little.
The zip is big because I have 4 swi's and 4 swf's. The swi's are there so you can see what's underneath. It's much easier to understand if you see what each movie consist of. Press on 0m.swf. If the movie is working then everything is there.
Now, back to your question. Please forgive me if I don't understand what your'e asking.
I hope this helps:
The main movie is 0m. The main movie is where you set all the commands. All the other movies will perform the effects I gave them.
One Load command is at frame 0, the other Load command is at the "text".

OK, Joe. Many thanks. I can see you are just like David...
you never sleep...you are ALWAYS here :-) I'll go pull
down the files now. Ciao.

Hi Velez...
I was just curious, cause I tried the image tutorial link again and... well, I'm able to get to the page itself, but the tutorial.zip link still shows me that I'm about to download explosion.swi... Am I doing something wrong? Please advise!
Thanks,Nick

(Joe): I'm not dumb (questionable at times), but am still
hung up on this movie loading thing. From what I can tell,
these things load almost like "overlays"??? Let me ask
you a few more questions.
1. On the timeline in 0m.swi, you have an action call to
"Load Movie 0m1.swf in Level 2". My understanding was
that the first movie is to be "Level 0", the next one
"Level 1", and the next "Level 2", etc., etc. Is this
not correct? (That's what the Swish Help file suggests)
2. I don't see any more action calls on the timeline in
0m.swf to load 0m2.swf, 0m3.swf, or 0m4.swf ... and
don't see anything on the timeline in 0m1.swf to load
(2, 3 or 4) either. So, forgive my ignorance here,
but how in the heck do they get plugged in?
3. If a person does NOT want movies to overlay, but to
run in sequence, does that mean an "unload" command
has to be stuck in a timeline somewhere?
4. What I'm still trying to grasp is the following:
(ASSUME: Movie 0 is a preloader, and #'s 1 - 4 are
"Main Movie" components to be played SEQUENTIALLY:
A. Can the preloader load Movie 1 (which is actually
.swf #2 in the chain of things) before #1 plays?
(The answer is, of course "Yes"). So, then...
B. While Movie 1 is playing, does the call to load
Movie 2 come from within Movie 1? If so, where
in the heck is it? What am I missing? Do I need
new glasses? Beat me...flog me...just do anything
to help me, please :-)
C. When Movie 1 finishes, and Movie 2 starts, is it
necessary to UNLOAD Movie 1 a frame before starting
a preload of Movie 3? (etc., etc. until 4 is loaded
and finishes playing).
What I'm still trying to understand in all of this is,
if there are both "load" and "unload" functions, I don't
recall seeing anything mentioned about "unloading" ;-(
Thanks much.

(Joe...again...)Hey...maybe I didn't get the right files??
You said:
> First, go back and download again. I changed the file
> just a little. The zip is big because I have 4 swi's
> and 4 swf's. The swi's are there so you can see what's

I found:
Umh, I got FIVE .swi's and FIVE .swf's !!! Were these
some old test files??? I did look "underneath" the hood,
but I ain't finding more than one initial load command
to stick Movie 1 into Level 2. It just doesn't make any
sense to me.
HELP, Joe...HELP :-) :-) :-) Thanks, pal.

I just woke up. I have to go to work. I'll be back in 8 hours.
Note: The main movie is Level 0. The other commands are at "Text". Click on the bottom 3 "Text" under Scene 1 and go to Actions tab.
I'll be back.
-
OK, Joe. I got 4 hours of sleep last night ;0 Took another
look and discovered what seems to be a glitch in Swish.
In 0m.swi when I double-clicked on the "A" in the timeline,
only ONE action showed (which is what I was looking at
before). If I go to the Action Tab, then I see the other
stuff, but like you said, having to go down to other fields.
Hmmm...it sure would be MOST HELPFUL...if we could click
or double-click in ONE PLACE to see ALL related actions
to any kind of movie loading or unloading.
So, this whole thing is for "overlaying" movies from what
I can tell. BTW, I love the pix of the beach and ocean...
did you take this? I'm there mentally, pal :-)
What advantages do you see to this approach as compared
to one "larger" movie? If there would be significantly
more content in movies 2, 3 & 4, won't this stall things
on slower connections while loading takes place?
Have you figured out how to daisy-chain movies together
that are NOT meant to be "overlays", utilize preloading
techniques, and then deal with the matter of "unloading"
the previous ones? This just seems to be a ball buster.
Oh yeah...what is the small "c" text in movie 2? Maybe
it's because I am tired???
Thanks for your diligent efforts and patience here.

Congrats, Joe! I just noticed there have been 2,660 views
of this thread you started. OBVIOUSLY, people are quite
interested in the multiple .swf load matter.
However, I'll almost bet the farm that 80% or more are as
somewhat lost as I am, but afraid to admit it. Is there
any possibility you could do a step-by-step "Mini-FAQ"
to explain things in detail? Yes, we can learn by looking
but sometimes...
1. Step 1 - Describe what and WHY
2. Step 2 - Ditto
3. Step 3 - Ditto ... and so forth
...and what takes place can be a most valuable tool to
facilitate learning. Not to burden you more, or maybe
one of the others might who understands the whole thing
thoroughly might want to tackle this?
Am I off base here or the ONLY one who is struggling to
learn? You are an awesome dude to be willing to share
your work and a cosmically creative guy like so many
others here. Just some of us have brains that may work
a bit slower :-) Thanks!

First, I want to say that I'm new to Swish. I've been with Swish since July 2000. Many of my posts are guesswork. They are not written in stone.
_______________
I've found the "LoadMovie" command an excellent feature of Swish. "LoadMovie" is perfect for placing many effects on any particular movie without affecting the smoothness of the movie. For instance, on my first "LoadMovie" example (0m), I could easily add a "ticker-like-scroll", an "outer-space-moving-effect" and another menu without affecting the movie. That's my 2 cents on "LoadMovie".
Take note:
Any movie placed on Level 0 will be the background of the movie. This is why your main movie is on Level 0. All other loaded movies should be on Level 1 or higher.
______________________
As for the preloader, I'm not sure, but, I believe if David will make a minor adjustment to Swish it might be possible. All he has to do is adjust Swish to allow swf movies to be imported under Preload content. (The same as you would with a graphic.)
How?
On the preloader movie the creator can place the commands to preload a particular swf. At the end of the Preloader the creator could instruct the movie to Load that particular swf.
I'm just taking a wild guess.
I hope this helps.

excellent!
Velez-
Excellent work, thanks for all the help and making your swi's available for everyone!
Regards,
Jason
