brilliant. although (like seti), most of the processing power is fruitless, at least we are doing something good with spare resources. Well done everyone. I now have another computer in work (a mac as well as my pc!) anyone know if I can set it up with the same username for this???
good thread hobbi (why drhobbi though???)

Count Me In
Hello Flashers
I just signed up with you all. I am now in the process of driving my mother back and forth to her Kemo treatments. Her cancer started out as Breast Cancer, then spread quickly to the rest of her body. Shes taking it very well, and we pray for her everynight to get through this, so I was very happy to see what this company is doing, and I am more then willing to help out as much as I can. I am also going to put this on my mothers computer to, its really slow "its my old Pentium 75" but hey, you never know, that just might be the one that help finds a cure..
Thank you all very much

it's the people inside....
hi camel
sorry to hear about your mother, i know how you feel, i lost my mother to cancer in october last year, just try to keep on thinking positive thoughts, and let her know that you love her.
the beauty of this project imho is that it is a collection of people who are connected only by an abstract concept (a macromedia animation programme) who are all willing to pull together in there own ways to try to combat this disease.
it is at times like this that i think flashkit is a real community, if only we could persuade all of the active members to donate their cpu downtime. (dreaming)
Perhaps we could get the burghers to include an option to join on the registration page( or am i now showing that i have no idea of the limitations of such a programme), even just an explanatory paragraph and a link?
as soon as i finish this post i am going to change my footer note to include a link to hobbi's original post, perhaps if we all had that on our posts it might generate more interest.
peace and love

I have emailed Mark Fennel (the webmaster), I have requested space on the front page for a few weeks, it is a worthy cause and if it just signs up one new member for us, it'll be worth it.
-
good idea... maybe a few people can put a link in their footer. Maybe i could ask Mark if they can put a link to this thread on the main page or post it in the news thread, or to include it in emails but i doubt it. currently we're sitting on 250 work units... WELL DONE! the new description is TEAM FLASHKIT!! flash developers band together to help fight cancer any alterations? it doesn't really matter what it is anyway. hats off to juels and RazoRmedia who are putting in a tremendous effort with this, well done guys and well done to anyone else who has joined up. the link to download the program is http://members.ud.com/download/

hi hobbi
as a testement to my stupidity i now have to ask you how to get a message that says cure cancer with your computer and links to here in my footer.
on the gathering members side, how bout we lobby for a forum board, as that should attract more interest from the populace.
just a thought,
peace and love

hehe in our dreams there's only about 2000 active users tops around the boards though i reckon
-
They don't have to be active members to join. if it on the front page, then it will be much more advertised.

Subject: Cure for Cancer
Mark,
A few members have set up a flashkit club for United Devices. Basically,
this helps find a cure for cancer by using distributed processes (a bit like
seti but for a good cause). I was wondering, would it be possible to have a
link from the frontpage for a few weeks, it is for a good cause and I think
a number of members have relatives or friends with cancer so it would be a
nice gesture. you can read the thread for yourself here :
http://board.flashkit.com/board/show...0&pagenumber=1
Thanks
Bruce
