Loved your icon design - do you remember a comic by Bill Sienkiewiec called Stray Toasters? Great comic!
I think you know what you are doing with the design although I do wish, wish, wish you didn't open full screen. You should at least give people the option. It was also a shame to open full screen and then only use a small proportion for the site. My monitors res is 1078*784 - maybe that has something to do with it?
