Graphic novel inking...?

I have done a graphic novel in black felt tip pen on plain white.I have scanned the novel as jpegs and now want to
fill in the colour on a graphic package.Only thing is that I don't know what package to use.Are there any specialised packages that was designed for this type of work?

If you in budget, get Paint Shop Pro.
If you want high end, get Adobe Photoshop.

Yeah, as cyyeun pointed out, most of the professional comic colorists today use Photoshop, and PSP is a good alternative at a cheaper price. If you search around these boards, there have also been some free alternatives, such as GiMP and Pixia (I think).

What I was wondering is why you scanned your images as JPEGs? Granted they are smaller file size, but it may make working with them tough, as jpeg is a lossy format and the recompression every time you save the file will eventually make you lose quite a bit of quality. You might be better working with a format like .tif, then compressing down to a jpeg when you are finished with the coloring.

Exactly. I usually start with a full-blown 300 dpi psd file, lots of layers, etc. The only jpeg should be your final image. Otherwise, there's no way you'll get the quality you want.
