Thread: Flash background colors wrong on a Mac

  1. #1
I have a few flash banners on my web site which look just fine on a PC, but when viewd from my Mac, the background colors are wrong.

    http://www.roundcheck.com/
The top banner (Graphics) should have a dark blue background. (#000033)
The middle banner (MCW) has a black background (#000000)
The bottom banner (NoteAfire) has a grey background (#333366)

But when viewd on my 6400, Internet Explorer 5.0, all of the backgrounds are black. I am sure that the Mac has the Flash 5 plug-in.

Is this a Flash problem, or a browser problem?

Same problem with Netscape Communicator 4.77 and the Flash 5.0 r30 plug-in.

    All banner backgrounds are black.

But it works as I expect it to on a PC with Internet Explorer 5.50

Ok, you see them as black also.
    What browser are you using.
    What platform (Mac or PC)?

well to me it sounds like your mac monitor needs to be calibrated. if not colors will always look off. also pc's gamma is darker than macs. colors will always look brighter on macs. try calibrating the monitor. if you need help with that just ask. but you can find a step by step help on your help menu.

    hope this helps.

I should give the resolution to this problem, so that it can be closed.

All of the swf files display correctly when viewed directly in a web browser (all versions). The problem was discovered to be the HTML object tag contents. I deleted the two tags that had o do with background color and transparancy. Now, the swf internal color definitions are no longer overridden by the html object tag.
