Mindfix,
while i am still very new here and i dont even know anything about files sizes in Flash, i don't think the comment about file size was the problem. It was the "swish is pure bluff" and especially "stealing other peoples time by saving their own" comments.
-
robzeng...i guess i just naturally ignore that stuff, he has a right to diatribe and be stupid...maybe i'm just a programmer by nature--that is, i ferret out the data and leave the rest...if the computer spent as much time crying about bad input as i've seen here in this forum, no one would get any work done....you know???

Big sizes?. ehh>?
are you on crack?.. I have just finished a intro for a book store, runs for 1 minute, has 7 images and 1 looping audio file. total size 120k. I design for a living and have yet to make an into that compiles to over 200k in swish.
Yes i can use FLASH but for the time it take to do what i need i can do it 10 times over in SWISH, the beginners may make big movies but they have yet to learn about compressing an image beforehand without loosing detail.
Whats funnier to me is that you have posted 10 times on the BBS AND you slam swish..
Go away this a local bbs for local people - we dont want you kind here!..
If David and swish ever go public with shares, I`ll snap them up!..

WRONG AGAIN!!!
I used trial versions of Flash and LiveMotion to animate photographs and text. Swish made the same effects at least 25% smaller (e.g. from 103KB to 72KB), and 100 times quicker to accomplish to boot. For my stuff Swish is fantastic. I didn't hesitate in buying it after a couple of hours on the trial version.
So bthhhhh.

Re: Anti Swish
I agree with Modern-Designs, Swish is a great program for new users. I order flash 3 upgraded to flash 4 and now upgrading to flash 5 spend CLOSE to $200 for each.
I tried creating something and following the online tutorial in flash and after about I think three years I still don't have a completed flash movie.
( If you are wondering why upgrade if I don't know how to use it, because I understand some of it, I guess I was hoping MacroMedia would do what SwishZone as done, make it more user friendly.) No chance of that though.
I think flash designers are more upset because a program has been created that anyone can use. The samething happen with html. I guess rolling is a flash designer.
After ordering Swish I have already created 3 flash movies and working on a fourth. Creativity is not knowing how something works but what to do with it when using it.
I emailed the company SwishZone last week to let them know how great their program is I have not received a reply but that's OK this message board lets them know what a good product they created.
I was hoping they allow importing sound and graphics and to my joy I received an email saying they have created an upgraded that allows the very thing I wanted.
Now I hope they incorporate drawing features and form capabilties, once they do that I will never go back to flash.
I am willing to pay for the upgrades!!!!
MacroMedia Flash you have to pay $150.00 to upgrade :-(

Well, like Bernard Baruch would say, "Maybe I'm wrong." All I know is that for straight text stuff, like blurs, I've seen file sizes jump quickly.
I am also not saying anything against Swish, it is totally awesome software. Easy to use, fast, and affordable.
However, the constant bickering and name-calling and baby poopy-pants stuff in this forum disgusts me.

I have bolth Flash and SWiSH but Prefer SWiSH because I can do the same effects in a fraction of the time and its about 20X easer to creat the effects. I think he is just looking for somthing to complane about

Rolling,
you are completely right on the size issue I dont give a damn what everyone says. Swish Swf files are about half bigger than Flashs Swf's. Dont know about Livemotion. Same things go for Moho and Koolmoves: their Swf's ARE bigger.
Now about the newbie thing-GET A LIFE!!!
It doesnt matter if you are hardcore techie designer or a newbie-ITS WHAT GETS THE JOB DONE AND LOOKS GOOD!!!
The point is to turn your computer on and finish your work (for money or for any nonprofit event) as fast as possible and get on with your life. That is the point dont you get it? Either you are some old profesional Flash worshipper or you are just pretending to be one.

YAAAWWWNNN!

Concur. Dorks like rolling need to get on with their lives and let us enjoy this outstanding forum.

Not too smart posting how you think Swish isnt that good in a SWISH forum, even though it is your opinion rolling. Of course were going to say that rolling is crazy, he posted how a product we love is bad in its own forum. Its like having someone walk into your house and say your spouse is ugly. That may be his idea but some of us just dont agree. And as for MindFix, our bickering, (which is not even that much, go look at other forums with about 9000 posts and 1700 threads and tell me that you dont see any) is too much for you then why do you read and post here? If it drives you crazy, leave. We dont need 1 more complainer of how this isnt good and how that is bad and blah blah.

I have been reading this forum for about a month now, but have never posted a reply. Now I feel the need to defend the swish team. As a Flash user, I know the points that rolling was trying to make.
But rolling is not attacking swish. He is attacking swish users, questioning their creativity and originality. How is this even possible to do?..rolling, have you seen what members have been doing with this product? Users like Purge who proved you wrong about swish before you ever appeared here. As far as the "swish is too easy" comment, thats just silly..who opts for the hard way? I also believe that you are incorrect about how it "keeps newbies, newbies" every pro was once a newbie, found a product that inspired them and they advanced from there. Ok ok..I know it isn't quite flash and it doesn't create files as small as flash..I also know it isn't quite $40! So lighten up! If ya don't wanna use swish, don't use it. (or is that option too easy for you?)..Anyway, Thankyou for your creative post.about time I joind this forum..(you get sarcasm, right rolling?)
P.S. Hats off to David for all his hard work and originality! Swish was awsome even back with the "text only" handicap

I know it is easier to make an effect in swish, but Swish generates movies ten times bigger then they should be. It generate the movies in the most stupid way. And hence the people who use Swish create sites and etc much more bigger than they should be. You cud easily compare swish movie with flash/action script movie. For example simple wave in flash adds 2kb and swish made - 30 kb.
I think swish users steal others time by saving their own.
And one more thing. If you once lose time to study the ways of making such effects in flash than you get much more effects in your disposal. And since that time creating them will be as fast as copy and paste plus maybe some imagination.
Swish is pure bluff.

Swish IS easy, if all you want to do is text. But, I know we've put in over 40 hours on one 2 minute project alone that includes multiple layers, etc. However, that same movie in Flash would take three times as long. There's inherent limitations in both interfaces, and just as many--if not more--benefits.

N' then I might just Jump back on An' ride Like a cowboy Into the dawn ........To Montana.
bill,
this thread was on the way to being sunk until it was returned to the top by your critical post, thanks.
If you look deep into the long ago past of two to three weeks in this forum, you will find plenty to keep you interested, amused and informed about swish (maybe that will stop you from responding to posts that are better left to sink into the depths of 2 pages ago)

David,
Considering I found the subject heading to be 4th from the top, it would seem that someone had replied very recently. Please don't respond, as that would just push this post up to the top once more...

anyway guys the files are bigger. i wonder would u buy a car wich weight is 7 tons for $1500 instead of norlmal for a $15000. dont say me to reinforce bridges.
to Hung-Hsin Chang: i will send u samples withing two days.
in fact i started swish when i need do a text effect and to do it fast. and then i found out that its size was 32k and the whole project i was doing was less this size. i was seriously dissapointed. i cant say "ok, let it be bigger" if i know it cud be small. quality is a key.
to david petley and co
regarding creativity:
may be in future the product will become more better but now it allows only fixed effects with very low flexibility. many users even dont understand how close they r to the bunch of effects but the product sets its limits, wich i claim to be artificial. all this effects are easy to make in flash for every person. only thing he needs is an information. if someone will provide action script libriaries with good explanations this product will die. another way is to make swish more mathematically based from the point of realisation. and i am sure that it will be more flexible, more efficient, and more easy for users.
-
were talking files not cars ther is a big diffrence, and anyway tell that to someone that is new to web design and they will choose SWiSH over Flash anyday I have bolth and know how to use Flash but I still prefer to use SWiSH because it is just easer.
