    Hi guys, my question is;
    how do i break an image up, like into little squares so that it loads quicker?? i think you can do it in firewoks cant you? or can you on dreamweaver? i have a pretty big image for my splash page and i want to ease the loading
    thanks a lot guys

    ps. which is the best way/program, to optimize images?
    fireworks? image ready?

    Well fireworks breaks an image up when their are links and hotspots in the picture. thats what i know. You can prob. just split it up yourself and make a simple table. Image ready is for optimizing images for the web. I use fireworks.

    I use Imageready and the "slice tool" and then you "save optimized as" and you will get a HTML document with a perfect table for the slices and a folder called IMAGES with all the "sliced images" in it. You can even optimize the slices so some slices are in .gif format and the slices that require better resolution is in .jpg

    It´s very easy, read the help file if you don´t understand it will tell you exactly how it works. I haven´t tried it but i know Fireworks can do it just as well.
