Being gay is neither wrong nor right. The bible is full of contradictions and it is therfor rather foolish to paraphrase it.

I think that God is about love, understanding, forgiveness, and faith.

I also believe that it is not for us to judge other people and their beliefs.

Oh not a "contradictions in the Bible thread" please!

God... I think he is far too big to be kept in a single book written by a single nation.

I believe in him but not in his Church.

The Bible is actually a bunch of books bound as one written by different people geographically far apart from each other.

You are telling someone off because their personal beliefs are not the same as yours.

Here in sydney there is a preacher man that goes out on friday and saturday night and hassles people at the Town Hall Steps. He plays his music loud, corners people and condems those who do not sit and listen to him.

I understand why people want others to believe. From a christian's point of view the world will not be redeemed until everyone believes. In their opinion you either live their way, believing in christ.. or you go to hell.

Now if someone went around saying believe in me, for if you do not you will sponateously combust, everyone would just laugh!!
    .

    see a similarity??
I am not trying to condem you to Christ, I am only getting upset and excited because I am telling you how wrong I was once. I wish I would have not been so hard hearted and accepted and believed sooner that is all.

God is the only way and I hate to say it and am sorry...but you can choose one, Heaven or Hell........it is not me who stands before the judgement seat.......that is why I pray for you.....

Not that I am right or that I feel good, but that you come to know the love of Christ the Father.

It says judge them by the word, by their fruit you will know them.......
I do it cause I care, desir to see NO man perish...............
    Sorry.............

Oh well thanks for pointing that out. If leviticus said it, then it must be true right? Why dont you try thinking for yourself once in awhile. I myself am not gay, but your comment makes me sick.

    (PS - I'm glad I was quoted a few times )

    Anyways,

Saying there is only one truth is stupid. Most of you people who talk about the bible, don't know jack ****. In the bible it doesn't say god is and was the only god. At the begining, there was these bunch of gods, but one killed the rest. Other religeons were made by the gods before they were banished from earth.

You may ask, if the bible is true, how come 6 bilion people cam from 2? That's the point, the other gods lusted the women on earth, and you guess the rest...

Now, christ says there is heaven and hell. Hell is not mentioned once in the bible. Heaven, is a mistake of translation. In Hebrew, Heaven is not only a paradise, but a place with no time. That's why christ has been a bit missleading all these 2000 years!!!

Anyways (again), it's useless arguing if there is a god, because you can't prove there is (and don't tell me faith!), and you can't prove there isn't.

A lot that happens in the bible is reflected in today, the best example is countries, in each bible or scripts, the same countries with the same names in coinsidence were in the same place - the bible isn't lying about anything.

You should think a bit diferent, lets say an angel burns water with his stick - he shot a laser beam from a laser. Thinking like that, can get you threw the bible in no time, and seeing it's not so impossible.

Of course there are still miracles. As I said before, I practiced some few magic spells for amateurs, but they did work, so there are miracles.

I just got to a conclusion, that religeon, is too blind. Think how stupid it is to be a priest - you work for someone you never met and dont get paid!!!

    contradictions and just plain wrong!

    Okay...

boxcrash.... look... I was what most would call a "born again" yes.. I hate that term, but basically that is what it was. I grew up believing in god... then I realised he was not there for me, so I rejected him, then I somewhat rediscovered him (when I believed I needed to)... and now... now my horizons have stretched and I see that Christ is ~not~ the ~only~ way...

I want to put this forward. I have mentioned that I once lost my faith as a child. Why you may ask... here is the deal... I was raped, and abused and assalted by different men and at different times in my life. Where was your so called god when this happened??? Then as I found god again... I accepted the fact that these things happen... to good and the bad... so I turned to the bible to gain comfort and security...

what do you think I found...? It is in one of the books in the old testiment... I cannot recall which one but there is a whole string of them... that say that whomever is violated by another man against her will, shall be condemned to death for she is no longer pure for her husband... something along those lines... basically it said that I was to be punished for the cruel things that men did to me.

I took this to my church to find out more about it. to get more info... they looked at me and said - it is the word.. you can redeem your self through faith... and still make it to heaven...

HELLO!!! I was already a child of christ... and they were telling me now that I was wrong for being raped.. that I WAS WRONG....

I am sorry... but christianity does not have all the answers. There is more outside the confines of a church....

    Blessed Be
    Keh'anh Tayn....

and before anyone says it.. I would have quoted the bible this morning if I could have found mine. I know my references are not 100% but they give you an idea....

    just a couple of comments:

wow. that seems pretty bold. i hope you mean that what is PERCIEVED as truth by one is NOT PERCIEVED as truth by another. there ARE absolutes in this world, there ARE rights and wrongs. there is only ONE truth, that is why it's called the truth. all of us have a perception of the truth in our heads and we know we're right, we're just taught to be polite and nice and not normally tell others that we think they're wrong, even though that's exactly what we're thinking inside. i mean, the law of gravity is a truth. if you drop a rock off a building, it will fall. gravity, as it applies to our conditions on this planet, is a truth. gravity will change depending on location in space, but it is still a truth.

i sort of agree there, a lot of people will quote scripture and they don't even know what it means or the context in which it was given. but i'll bet you don't know it all either. i'm not trying to be ugly or disrespectful, but it seems pretty harsh to decree ignorance in another when all of us are in a constant state of learning, and are all at a different place mentally. i know my school teacher didn't go around saying "you don't know jack ****!" when i was wrong or voiced an opinion contrary to hers. if there was a solid TRUTH i was misunderstanding, i was shown my error. if my opinion was just different, i was allowed to believe as i wished, so long as it did not contradict an established truth.

the other problem is that even the most accomplished Bible scholar cannot prove to you that God exists. but you can't prove He doesn't. think about it. believing in God has nothing to do with the Bible or the Pope or whoever you follow as you religious leader/mantra. that knowledge grows inside you, and you can't fully communicate it to another person. if you could, everyone would be a member of the same religion. God expects us all to do our part in seeking Him out. if you don't seek, you won't find. i do believe in God, and of course i believe that those who don't believe in Him are wrong. if i didn't feel that way i wouldn't have much of a 'belief' now, would i?

all this talk is pretty touchy. hope i haven't totally offended anyone, because that would be pretty un-Christlike of me.

That is horrible.......what has happened to you.....I pray that the Lord will comfort you.

The church that told you you were wrong, is WRONG, no where does it say a woman raped will go to hell....
Also the old Testament is Law(Truth)the New Testament is Grace both must be taken together, not seperate. We are under the grace age cause christ died for us on the cross..Praise God!!!!

My parents, had a daughter named Megan........who, when she was born my mother was a strong believer and my dad was a camoflauged christian, a luke warm christian. Well too say she was born disfunctional and in very much pain. My mother got toxicemia from the birth and was thought not to make it through as well, a lose of two.
The Lord showed my mom that she was going to take Megan home before she was born, while she was still in the womb. Also my dad knew this but denied it.Well they tried to keep her alive for 5months on machines and millions of dollars....she did not make it......the Lord took her home...and my mom was still sick.
At this time my dad cried out to God who heard him and healed my mom and his heart and also miraculosly provided millions of dollars for the bills.......they had no insurance cause my dad had just lost his job and know he is a pastor that takes no offerings and works 6 days a week at another job too....
Well, why then would he take a innocent life.....for many reasons....he loves so much we cannot understand....I have no idea what he has in store or why.......I have only known me for 25years, he has know me since before I was born and to the day I die, weither it is tommorrow or at age 105.

I know people who have had there whole families raped, killed, and tortured in front of them and it has only caused them to grow closer to God. It says he tests our faith, he wants a faithful servant. Does this mean he will send you too hell if you slide from him once, twice, thrice......NO. It says though you will forsake me, I will never foraske you, never. That is powerful!!!You can lose your rewards(treasures) but not your salvation, you cannot undo the cross. Look at Job in the old testament and how he was tested.

The Lord is so powerful, he still raises from the dead and heals.

    read Psalms 103:11-12
Isaiah 53:1-6(verse 5 though is one that stands out, but all are equally important)Also verse 2, no circumstance hardened him; the hardness of others did not harden him.
Also Isaiah 53:12(he intercessed for YOU)Old testament is so cool see how it prophecies of Jesus's coming and about him.

I was faced with a hard circumstance once and was going to turn my back on the Lord agian but you know what, he gave me a scriptur in my head that I had not memorized or was familar with, and I looked it up and it is Matt. 10:39.
He showed me this and it hit me like bricks, it is not mine and it is only temporal.

I once heard a brother who lost his family and was tortured in unspeakable ways say, I count everything a lose for Christ. Already he goes into his day and walk with the Lord with that attitude. That is so powerful.
We are Justified, then through the daily word and walk sanctified to be glorified in heaven when we die. 3 part.
One for our spirit, one for our soul, and one for our body.

Jesus loves you so much still, even more than before. That is why stupid people like me are telling you this and hopefully none of myself is in these words and it is his spirit, so I do not live any junk for him to clean up.

What is your name....I want to pray for you...are you Japanese?? or is that just your nickname.

P.S. I know everyone thinks I am crazy and wierd and etc. I count it a lose to God, anyhow self-acceptance drive is of the flesh.lol And yes there is more outside the confines of a "Church" built by man, the Lords house, a church built on the rock, a church God builds, and not MAN.

    >>>I am not religous...........I just love the Lord.<<<

My opinion goes against the human urge to use the supernatural to explain away things we don't (yet) understand:

God is a security blanket for those in denial of their own mortality.

    final reply to this thread

I am only writing in this thread once more, I am sick of people not being open to other's opinions.

Boxcrash. Pray for me if you wish, but I need no sympathy, and to be frank.. I do not want it.... I am over all the stuff I went through. it is in the past... move onwards and upwards, grow stronger and learn....

The old testiment is where I read the words that a rape victim should be punished. You say that the old testiment is true... well... there you go ~shrug~ It did not say one would go to hell, it said a victim would be punished. Stoned to death I think the term was.. ~shrug~ I have distanced myself from those words.

I find more comfort in the friends around me than in the word of the lord. I believe in parts of the bible.. but not all. I believe more in myself however, and in the teachings of Aeldran. These are more true to me.

BTW... my name is not Japanese. I am Australian with british herritage. My ident here is from Aeldran.. a lost language you could say. It means something along the lines "strength and stubborness"

    My point.....

I want to point out that bo be born in the Christian
family and go to Church when you are a kid is not anough.
But you need to get to know God personally.

Back to the topic of this thread:
"God is the greater artist" - "I'm Speechless"(Avalon)

    "Some can write a sonnet
    To describe in silvery words
The rising and the setting of the sun
    Some can pain a picture
    In shades of vibrant color
It almost looks like heaven when they're done
Lord, when I try to speak from my heart
I don't know where to start
When it comes to you I'm Speechless....
...I've searched my heart for phrases
But they only glimpse of all You Are."

    Nice, isn't it?
