    the 5k SWiSH page challenge!

I posted a 5k swish page comp months ago & noone really went for it? Its a great exercise in learning how to optimize your movies & how certain effects affect your filesize etc?
Here is the one I came up with back then! Its 4965bytes total!(html & .swf) out of the 5120bytes that you have to work with!
    http://ziggyweb.com/5kgui.htm
I had a blast with it back then & I'll be launching the comp again on the new SWiSHtips site in a week or so!
I'm ready to give it another try with v2!

Here is the actual 5k "Site" comp that gave me the idea!
http://www.the5k.org/ Check out this years winners!
Its amazing what some people have come up with! with just 5k to work with!
    Cheers...ziggy

    UPDATE:
O.K. I added a drop shadow & a close button, tweaked my .html & added a .swi download button & the byte info!
Its 5120 bytes on the nose now!
You can download the zip(.htm/.swf/.swi) from the 5kgui link below!
I tried to change the Topic to Challenge from Competition which is what it really is & is what I meant to post in the first place! Just a fun way to learn some neat, useful tricks!

I'm getting ready to install the new forum & start setting up the new site as soon as I get this transfer done with NetworkSolutions...Arrggghhhh! I HATE them with a passion!
I always wondered how they could get away with still charging $35 for domain regs? Its just that they make it such an impossible feat to change anything! That most people just give up & pay the "RANSOM"
    Check out the5k.org...Its amazing!
Maybe we can get some SWiSH entries for this years comp?
    Cheers...ziggy

    Cool crashedstar!...great start!
    I swear!...Its under 5k by a 155 bytes! html & .swf
Its all Fonts & dingbats (webding g's) & the text rollovers are transparent gif's compressed to the max!
Thats why I said its an excellent exercise to learn the ins & outs of keeping your filesize down & how certain effects affect your filesize!
The rules according to the5k.org are simple! You get 5k total to work with!
SWiSHtips 1yr birthday is July23rd so the site will be up by then at the latest...I'll have all the info on there!
    Cheers...ziggy

Interesting point you make Ziggy, why not consider lowering the Limbo bar for footers.Might take a bit of pressure off Flahkit and throw out a new challenge to one & all. 10k for starters on all footers.mmmmmmm

Yeah! On the new ST forum I am going to limit them to 5k for starters & to coincide with the 5k challenge!
I have a nice new server & MySQL database for the forum but its nothing like what FK is running!
That should keep it moving along nicely & be a fun challenge to boot!
Glad to see some interest in this this time around...last time it was a total flop?
    Cheers...ziggy

    Arrrgghh! v2 You dog!
4867bytes Huh? with or without the .html file?
    You only get 5120 total!
Those bubbles sure are cool though, I like how the bigger ones move faster.
It gives it alot of depth & realism!
I have some bubble tubes I made in v1.5 a long time ago that I'm using for a jukebox I'm playing with but those are cool!
    Check out the5k.org...Its amazing!

Where do you get that 656 John?
    I just made a blank html page, and it's just 45 k.
Am I missing something? (I'm just awake for an hour and 3 espressos so that could be the problem)

Well I just right clicked the html (SWISH generated) and 656 bytes. Get the rest of that coffee into you brother ...a 45K html is pretty big in fact way over the limit
