    Hello everybody,
I finally released a playable version of Gold Yard, an isometric adventure game, and I'd like you to check it out at:

    http://www.goldyard.net

On the site, besides the game itself, you'll find extra contents and "behind the scenes" material.

I'm eager for feedback so please let me know your opinions, suggestions, comments, and criticisms about the game.
    Also, bug-report is highly appreciated!

    Thank you all!

Two words - truely amazing! That is without a doubt the most polished flash RPG I've seen - the graphics are superb (very professional) and the presentation is also superb.

It would be good to see a save game implemented into it but I'm sure you have one planned. I played for ages and I didn't come across any bugs - well done!!

    Great Stuff!

    Hi Gambini,
thanks a lot for your compliments!

About the save feature, that's something we'll certainly implement soon (a fast solution would be a level related password for the player to start play from the last reached level).
Currently, we are working on a database driven hi-score table as well as expanding the playing area (adding new rooms).

Every update will be notified in the front page news.

    Thanks again for your feedback!

An excelelent game, would love a save feature- as in rpg's, they can become difficult if you have to complete a whole section of a game to try and solve a puzzle etc again.

great graphics, and really, no flaws at all. keep up the great work

very very nice. This game has a lot of serious potential for expansion. And could be very addictive

that is wonderful. It takes me back to all those Ultimate/Rare games of old like Alien-8 and knightlore.

    props again!

Sorry about that I don't know why that happened, even though testing the downloading speed using a dial-up I must say it seems it has slowed down a bit.

    -plug--------------
Thanks, and that's true I have a long list of additions (new monsters and new features) that seem not particularly hard to implement once we got the game engine working properly. Also even not adding any new feature, many new situations can be created in terms of level design

    -sermad------------
thank you, you got exactly the point )
When I scribbled down the first lines of a guideline document for the game there was this line saying : "inspirational: Atic Atac, Knight Lore".

Personally I found those games very suitable for Flash because of their static background (the room) that doesn't slow down the game speed (as opposed to a scrolling background).

Plus they're not deeply focused on action (many sprites moving and looking for collisions in a room cause a fps slowdown as well) but they rely on the puzzle solving element that's doesn't require necessarily CPU power (it rather requires some good planning in design phase )

Very nice! The graphics are superb and the game plays really well. Excellent stuff. And really nice that the main character is a Tolkien Hobbit

I guess the code will not be open source and thats fine, but have you considered writing some tips and guidelines on isometric engines..I think it will be a great tutorial for beginers and even advanced users. There is lack of such tuts here.

    -Mad-Sci--------
Yes, time permitting, I'd like to write a tut on isometrics, something more like a general approach to the topic rather than an in-depth guide. The latter would take - I'm afraid - very long to be written...
