stopping sound in another .swf file

Is it possible to turn off sounds in one .swf file from another .swf file that reside in separate html pages?

Yup,
The stop all sounds script works no matter where you put it. So, just have a button anwhere, on any page, that has a stop all sounds command. That should do it.
