Do you have a NIC installed?
That's the only a Network Neighborhood icon will show up in Windows 98.

Well, I want it to be part of network...
what Iv'e got is a host PC with 2 NIC's - one NIC connected to the cable modem, the other NIC to the sharing machine [mac] via a crossover. Do I need to install microsoft networking after i install the NIC? I can do an internal ping to each NIC, but not to the remote machine...
    ... god I'm glad I don't do networking for a living..
