How to make a Midi file ( i know it's lame)

hi guys,

i know it is lame, but i was just wondering how to make a midi file?
friend of mine record a song and he wants to convert it into midi...now i got the mp3 file but just dont know where to start...help please?

First let me say that is not a lame question.

MIDI stands for...
Musical Instrument Digital Interface
MIDI allows instruments to communicate with each other.

A MIDI file on your computer communicates with your sound card which has a little built in synth.

The MIDI information is
Channel
Note#
Pitch bend
Attack velocity
Note on
Note off

What you need is a program that allows you to save a MIDI file from a .wav or Mp3.
