I started this site and I, have buttons calling up movie clips using

on rollover

I cant figure out how to get rid of the previous movie clip

i need to get rid of the previous layer.

You need to tell the movie clip that is currently playing to do something (play an off screen animation or go back to its first frame) as well as telling the new clip to play.
