I came across this band's site after seeing them play in my home town of San Francisco. I love the lay out. Very clean.

Weird, now the pictures won't load. I tried installing the Flash plug-in again but still nothing. I promise the site usually works. Hmmm.

What is so great about it? Cool sites forum is for sites that make you say - "Holy $h|?, how did he do that??" I mean, it's neat and tite - but my socks aren't coming off.

Yeah, it's not extremely "flashy" and it doesn't have any bouncing techno beats, but it's definitely a nice change from the usual visual/aural overload of most sites today. I guess I'm just a fan of more minimalistic art.

I must be, because I really dug this site a lot too.

Well, not bad. But not good enough for this cool sites section.

    Keep flashing.

Hmmm...You guys are a tough bunch to impress. What did you guys think about the http://www.peterfunch.com site? Was that any better?

I'm curious to see what sites you guys think are truly "Cool Site" worthy. Post some of you favorite sites to see what your tastes are.

So what makes a cool site? Those two sites were simple and well designed. What could be cooler? Thanks gastr

    um...

Yes...those two sites are nice but are not considered "cool" by today's flash standards. Check out a site like http://www.theory7.com to get an idea of what cool is. Or even go to http://www.2advanced.com and check out Eric's stuff.

Yeah- we've all seen those sites and they're great. My point is that there is more than 1 kind of cool.

You're right but those two sites seemed bland in comparison to a lot of other sites coming out right now. That was my point. There isn't a one and only "cool" persay but to be considered "cool" the site should envoke the "wow" factor and those two sites that you posted do not.

haha, its funny to see people trying to decide whats "cool" and whats not.

i think enough people would enjoy these sites (such as myself) that they deserve to be in cool sites.

    just my opinion.

Yes you could say that they are bland in comparison, but you are comparing apples and oranges. I noticed you have Jessica Spiegel's site on your list of links (one of my favorites as well). But I would have to say that it is not "cool" if I compared lt to Theory 7 and 2advanced and used that "wow effect" as my criteria. The design god is in the details. Maybe we should split this topic:
    1) Cool Sites that Push the Envelope and Do S**t You've Never Seen Before
    2) Cool Sites that Do So Much with So Little

I do like the 2advance site but to be honest, it's getting a little old. There are so many cool little sites popping up(like the ones I posted) that usually aren't acknowledged. Flash is OVERUSED so much these days (not refering to 2advanced necessarily) that it ruins and covers up any artistic value in the project. The theory7 site seems like it was a little "influenced" by Egomedia.com to me. Sorry, I know everyone likes it a lot, but I don't find it expressing any sort of personality or emotion.

Anyway, just my opinion. I like your idea of splitting up the "Cool Sites" board into two catorgories Laksmi.

    the site...

... is not bad, but it could be better... One can make a lot more with a band.

It is really funny to see people saying: this is not cool.
But if I take a look at the sites they made then I think this is not cool.
So people before you say "this is not cool and too simple", make one hell of a site yourself!

    Nice sites gastr.

Besides, if we were busy building cool sites, when would we have time to post to forums?
