    Macromedia OS, that Destroys Microsoft

also on an unrelated note; i am under the impression that macomedia relized that flash 6 (beta) was just a pretty version of F5 and that flash mx is a huge step up... 10 days

Yeah, right. And what would this OS do that Windows couldn't? Anyway, that's a completely different field that Macromedia has absolutely no experience in. Macromedia and Microsoft are getting along together too well at the moment for something like that to happen.

"Yeah right" is my comment as well.

I know it's just hypothetical thinking, that's all well and good, but seriously, why? What has MM ever done to make anyone think they'd have success in the OS market?

Microsoft is what it is because they've been doing this stuff since the 70's. A Macromedia OS that destroys Microsoft? I'd put my money on hell freezing before that would happen.

    Could it be True?

what if a macromedia flash OS was used primarily for computers that only used internet services? It could happen couldn't it???

No. Macromedia is a completely different part of the market. For them to move into OS's is ridiculous. A computer that uses only "Internet Services" would still need an OS just like any other computer. Microsoft, Apple, and Linux got this more than covered.

    nah

Perfect world would simply be a world with only
    ONE OS,
    ONE web browser,
    ONE monitor size.
Standardize EVERYTHING. I don't even care if maximum FPS went down to 18 fps-- if we web designers could stop worrying cross-browser cross-platform bull$@%#, it would be worth it.

Actually, Macromedia is one of the few big firms around there that gets along well with Microsoft...
Not being anti-anyhting here; simply laying down the facts. If not look at these samples:
    - AOL vs MSN
    - Javascript vs VBScript
    - Netscape Navigator vs Internet Explorer
    - Borland C++ vs. Microsoft Visual C++
    - Java VM
    - Apple Computers
...even the comparison of the XBox and PS2 could fit in here...

    Ok, here's my perfect world.
Microsoft produces a new OS (don't get me wrong they did an awesome job with 2000 & XP) that utilizes the desktop in a much better way than now. Meaning it's not clutterd with shortcuts but is a customizable interface based on the apps and files of your computer. One that looks like the computers of the future, that way you don't spend as much time in the start menu or learning and setting up programs like DesktopX.
Oh and also what "Al Flashino" said:

i take no fun in having to design something 3 times cause people are 2 silly to download or get a copy of the latest browser (which u can get from most computer mags anyway)
