    Hi,

Can someone give me some tip about what Wildform mean by Flash MX video export in Flix 2.1. Do they use the Sorenson Spark codec available in Flash MX?

    Thanks in advance...

    Best regards,

    Oliver

WILDFORM RELEASES FLIX 2.1 – FEATURING FLASH MX VIDEO

Wildform is pleased to announce the release of Flix 2.1, which features Flash MX (Flash version 6) video output. This makes Flix the only software that outputs all types of Flash video: the new, high quality Flash MX video, the ubiquitous Flash 3-5 video, and Flix’s one-of-a-kind vector video.

MX video uses high quality video compression that is comparable to Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and Real. Flix offers both 1-pass and 2-pass VBR MX video encoding. [Note: MX video output plays only in the Flash 6 player.]

Flix still outputs Flash 3-5 video (according to a December, 2001 NPD Research study, 98.3% of all Web users have Flash 3-5 installed), as well as its unique vector video that consists only of lines and curves defined by mathematical equations that can scale to any size without distortion (Flix’s vector video plays in any Flash player 3-6).

Flix also outputs many additional files, such as audio only files, projectors, and html code, and it comes loaded with many time saving features (such as batch, bandwidth control, links, play controls and variables) designed to enable users to encode video, add their own customized elements and post it on the web in minutes.

Flix 2.1 is $129, and each license also includes $100 in video from the Wildform Video Library as well as access to Wildform’s customer only resource section.

Flix 2.1 is available for Windows. Mac version due out within a week.

    Thanks Jonathan_B!

I allready saw that annoucement... it only talks about Flash MX video Format (.flv) but not about the new Sorenson Spark Codec!? Is it included with Flix 2.1 to create the .flv file, or does Flix 2.1 access to that codec in Flash MX?

    Thanks for your answer...

    Best regards,

    Oliver

    What no FLV?

I just upgraded to 2.1 and theres no sight of a FLV file export option

You can choose to export a MX movie but its still a SWF file??

Whats going on here.. Okay its great compression and stuff but what about the output format?

    Hmm no reply

I'm still confused here.. Wildform talk about MX video but it doesn't import straight into MX.. it just seems to be compatible with the Flash 6 Player with better compression than the other types..is that what this means?

Does it really encode as good quality and small sizes as Sorenson Squeeze Pro? I haven't seen anything to compare the two, ie example files and size comparisons.

do I still have to use loadmovie to get flix video into my flash movies?

    Hi.
MX SWFs play in the Flash 6 player.
If you want to import the MX video into MX you need an .FLV file.
We'll be adding support for .FLV files shortly.

    Hi.
Flix 2.1 is the latest version. Flix 2.2 will be a free upgrade to Flix v.2 license holders when it is released.

Flix does not use Sorenson Spark

Many have asked the question if Flix uses the Sorenson Spark codec. The answer is no, Sorenson has not licensed the Spark codec to Wildform.

If you desire to use the Sorenson Spark codec you have two options - 1) Use the basic version found in MX or 2) Use the Pro version that comes with Sorenson Squeeze.
