is it possible to make a flash desktop?

I was wondering if it is possible to make a flash desktop and have flash execute programs?

If so, can someone tell me how?

Flash cannot do that. If it copuld then people would design movies that could control your computer while you were browsing.

am not sure, if u want .swf as ur wallpaper, if yes. then u can do it. its very easy. u just give the path of html file of tht, it will show u the swf. file on or desktop. make sure ur desktop shd be on view as an web page in property. ok.bye,

he said what i was going to say.... if you put it on your desktop you can put a shortcut in your fscommand folder and controll whatever like that. i would think.

What do you mean by FS folder?

So if I can execute a programs and use Flash as a desktop how do I do it? what action script would I use on a button to start a program?

Oh for god sake, it's not hard.....lol!

All you do is create an html document containing your flash movie and set the html page as your desktop backdrop (wallpaper)

if you want to work with flash forgot about it,..

hi step by step

1) create your flash movie
2) Publish it
3) right click on your desktop, and choose active desktop, then customise my desktop, click the backround tab, then click on browse, then find your html for your flash movie, then choose that and click ok

But what I was really wanting to know is how to activate programs if i'm using Flash as my desktop. What is the ActionScript I would put on my buttons to, say, start Flash?

Hey

I made a flash desktop last year with multiple background chooser and roll out file menu. Bapha, It is impossible to run exe's from flash... if you try and

getURL("C:\ProgramFiles\Flash\flash.exe")

it wont work

instead what I did was to group my program shortcuts in certain directories and i could then open those directories!

getURL("C:\ProgramFiles\Flash") - i think

So I would have a dir for games, one for design etc... with different shortcuts...

remember you can also position your folders where you want on your desktop and after closing them they will remember where to appear next timed they are opened through flash

it is great functionality if you like to have an uncluttered desktop with funky interactive backgrounds!

If you want to make Flash execute programs you could make an HTM file as your desktop as stated by the above however withing that HTM file you could use an signed script to execute WSH or BAT commands. Flash would then call these by FS.
