client just sent me a standalone .exe and wants to put it in a powerpoint presentation. They asked me if I had the tools to convert it from an .exe to an .avi.

Sounds crazy to me...is there anyway to call the .exe from powerpoint? Sorry, I am old Flash user, but new at Powerpoint. Can you simply link to the flash.exe and have it open in a defined area in the PP?

    Is there other/better ways?

i just figured out that you can simply insert a link in Powerpoint with the name of the flash.exe file and it will work. It opens but 'on top' of the powerpoint, not in it. It would be nice if i had the .swf then I could embed it in the PP, any other suggestions?

Any tools that can extract the contents of a standalone flash.exe and convert it to .swf or .avi?

Look at the main page of http://www.northcode.com for the link to EXE2SWF. It will do the job of pulling the SWF out of your EXE file.

    SWF2Video http://www.flashants.com

    SWF2AVI(Freeware) http://www.pizzinini.net/
