    Sounds good to me!

So...are there any plugins etc. that don't work under linux? It seems that all the major ones are covered...I wonder if linux will ever be big competition to microsoft / apple for client usage...I hope so, in my opinion microsoft needs some more good competition so that they'll make some better products. (kinda off topic, sorry)

Microsoft upgraded Linux from "a threat" to "the threat" about 6 months ago. So yeah, they're seeing this is as an issue. They've also, supposedly, changed their policies and gone from features before security to vice versa. So the field is about to even out - they won't be able to add as many cute toys because they'll cost to much to secure.

I run Mozilla and Opera for everything. Although, for FK I have to use Wondoze due to the FP6 issue. The streaming bug has pushed the release of FP6 for Linux back a few months. But FP6 is the only plugin that's a problem so far.

I use K-Meleon for everything, including FK, it uses the old Mozilla engine, though a new release will come out soon. It uses the Netscape Flash plugin, and it works fine for me, I think I recall hearing the streaming bug only effected the Active X

What I was saying, maybe not so well, was that the development was pushed back because of the streaming bug.

Ok, you've mentioned K-Meleon enough that I've got to try it

So this means that microsoft feels that linux is a bigger threat to them right now than apple? That's a bit nutty...or maybee it's just because linux is on the same platform (well...it runs on pretty much any platform) where as apple is on it's own platform. That's impressive though, good for linux!

Technically OS X is an Apple-ised Unix (Apple even say it's great cos' it's Unix based.

Here are some stats you may be interested from a (largish) non-IT website I maintain. I'm enjoying the webTv stats. I think it's just one person. hahahaha.
Also it's good to see that Win ME has taken off so well.

That's a whole lotta windows! I didn't think that apple was that small. Maybe it's kuz i live in a sheltered corner of the world with a mac based school. I say microsoft needs more competition according to those numbers.

Remember that if you are in the USofA , Granny Smith's tend to be a bit more common with the average user on the ground.
The stats here are from a .au site, so the majority of visits are from Aus people.
Here, they are common with the schools(high & primary), DP and Photoshop crowd but not that common with the General Public.
One issue is that the price difference is quite large - $3500 for a Mac vs $2500 for a similar Wintel PC (with a bigger CRT).

Getting back to the thread topic, my opinion is that high MS usage can be tracked down to some sort of Apathy and possibly even fear of the unknownOS (instigated by MS).

For me when Macromedia launch Flash MX+ for Linux I'm formatting c:\.
I wonder if it'll run in Lindows? (currently being sued by the people own square glass operating systems.)

Yeah, if flash ever goes linux I think I'll be switching over too. As for lindows, last I heard of the lawsuit, the judge was taking lindows' side and telling microsoft that they have no right to copyright the name of a household object. What's next, microsoft suing company's for making window sills?
