have been reading one of those Mac vs PC threads....

just decide which you would enjoy working on the most, and get a comfortable chair.

So my question is after spending all that money one hardware and software, what typè of chair do you guys and gals use ?

I mean the one i use cost me less than 150 euros, less than my scanner !!!! And I use my chair a lot more. So I guess that would make my a dumb arse, or is that a numb arse ?

My work chair is nice, cost more than my pc. My chair at home is one of those cheap, horrible typists chairs... half an hour and you are twisted up in knots trying to get comfortable.

We've got lazy-e-boy type chairs all round, very comfy, it doesn't make you want to go home. But I suppose that was the point in buying them.

I used to have this nice looking chair with pneumatic height adjustment and arms.

The friggin thing was so hard on my neck I had to dump it. You see if you lean on chair arms it twists your spine and that can end up causing awful neck pain.

The one I use now came from my wife's office. It was broken and they were going to throw it in a dumpster. Well a little ingenuity later and the thing is back in service for me. Pneumatic height adjustment, no arms and I can recline while I ponder my latest creation.

A good quality chair is important. But getting out of your chair regularly is important too. Get a dog and take it for walkies...

it is odd though that everyone goes on about what pc or mac they use with which video card ect, but no one seems to put much thought into what they are sitting on !!!

That's the first thing we thought of! It doesn't matter whether you have a great computer if you can't sit down long enough to use it. We spend a lot of time in the office, and have been known to fall asleep in our chairs.

Thusly, we outfitted the place with executive black leather high-backed chairs. It's one of those few areas in which we splurge. Secondary seating is a bunch of black leather task chairs, very padded and very comfy.

I kicked myself for not getting the chairs from Office Depot - could have saved a lot of money. They have a fairly nice leather highback for approx US$6. See the "Furnature at Work" chair if you're interested... it looks almost exactly like the ones we paid a lot more for, except matte black frame instead of chrome.

Can't beat leather for comfort, durability, and of course class.

    Good topic!
I sit on an old crappy lopsided $50 Staples chair. I must admit my butt's gone numb on several occasions sitting here...
You've reminded me that I spend too much time at this desk, and that I'm probably killing any hopes of having a functional spine in 20 years. Thank you, it really is high time I got a new chair!

Unfortunately the Aerons on E-Bay are still looking too expensive for me. (Though I want one so much!) Does anyone have any model names on the less-expensive comfy chairs they're sitting on?

i'm sitting on an Aeron right now. picked one up two years ago practically right out of the box. an $800 chair for $150.

still, it's worth every penny at full price.

who says that the dot com crash was all bad?

Don't know about that. All I know is, I sat in one one time, just for a few moments, and felt like I could sit there forever.

They are pretty famous everywhere, I think.

Trust me...we used those chairs in almost every room at the Digital Media school I went to...they are REALLY comfy. No better chair around.
