problem with stand alone player

when i open the .swf player "on its own" with my movie on it the buttons don't do any thing but when i play it inside the flash program and preview it works??!
(it also works fine in a browser window) :beer

Check which flash player it's opening, Freehand et al often have a copy of the flash player included, and it's usually old.

It took me a week to find out i had a copy of the Flash 4 player on my machine once...thought i was going mad.

What happens when you drag and drop the swf onto the player?.
Did you make the swf on the mac?
