I like that idea of having the penalty shootout BEFORE the golden goal extra time. If no-one scores the golden goal, then the team that won the shootout goes through. There would be less pressure and less blame on the person who missed the crucial penalty, and it would make extra time more exciting because one team would have to be ambitious and come forward.

Blah! Darn this World Cup! That's the 7th or so time straight that I've lost a bet on this WC. I bet on a team to win and they draw. Maybe I might throw a flutter on England. Darn draw at fulltime!

The Senegal/Sweden match was great to watch, two teams who were attacking all match, both had plenty of opportunities to win it, Camara's goal to seal it was fantastic.

The atmosphere here is amazing - i mean the whole culture of it : around Notting Hill gate today , i saw tourists and locals in the footie shirts , Brasil, Germany, Sweden ,England etc.. sitting outside the coffeeshops chatting, kids around here have transformed the local alleys with their goalposts and flags and others have opted to decorate their cars instead with their team colours.

I get on the bus at High st Kensington to catch the bus to work earlier and the driver sits there with the radio on and gives me the latest update on Spain V Ireland.

Suddenly London feels like 1 small community where everybody knows your name lol

Well I though the first penalty was very soft, the second was definitely there. As bad as the penalty miss was the miss on the follow-up, absolute shocker.

Both teams have used all three substitutions too.

yeah that player looked shaky with the 1st one - you could tell from his body language and even lack of momentum that it wasnt going in i guess and the goalkeeper read that

Spain look defensive, they only have 1 up front now. Ireland have got 3 strikers on with Damien Duff looking like the player who could win it. They're all looking pretty tired though.
