But a Perugia spokesman insisted the club had decided to release Ahn even before the World Cup tie.
chill They did say they were letting him go before the match against Italy !
So did Arsenal with their Japanese player who hardly played in the Premiership. Then he got to show what he could for Japan at the world cup and impressed many fans and commentators but Arsenal is still releasing him.
Italy has many foreign players - Dutch, Germans, especially, you dont see them getting kicked out each time Italy loses lol

yeah i overreacted a bit there *shame* but i still think italy is a bit of a sore loser plus that italian passion thingy doesn't help either... portugal took it WAY better when they got beaten by the Japanese... oh well a good lesson in humility if nothing else...
PS. that perugian guy luciano gaucci can just go to hell

it's going to be a high scoring match i think, england's defence is solid and they know how to shut down a match once they're ahead. Which may be boring (a la argentine match) but it be ok if they win that way
brasil's defence is less than solid and i think you'll see the english get through with some of the set moves they've been executing so well. It all depends on how many goals go in at the other end!
I'm betting on england, they're more solid than brasil at the back and more coordinated at the front, brasilian striking talent will probably shine thru at some point though.
plus seaman's in the form of his life.

im not so sure Aversion... both Ronaldo and Rivaldo seems to be in top forms as well not to mention Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos and Denilson... all seems to be playing really well... i think they haven't been playing 100% in this world cup coz their opponent hasn't been much of a challenge apart from Turkey (China? )it'll be interesting to see them playing against one of the better team...

i'm sticking by what i said
if brasil score quickly then it will be a tough match but if the english defense plays as it has been it won't be so easy for them. I think they will score, there's just too much talent not to at least have a chance, even against the best defense, but i just don't think brasil are playing 'together', maybe that's just because their opponents haven't been top notch but i think they're going to be surprised, england are atually playing more like a german side at the moment.
my prediction, extra time after a score draw and then the english set pieces will prevail.

all right...my prediction, 2-1 to Brazil no ET... Brazil score and then England with an equaliser coz i think Brazil need a wake up call on their defense... after that, it's smooth sailing for Brazil...

?
Nah, it will be 3-0 to England. All goals by Michael Owen.
oops, did I say that?
I personally don't think there will be many goals in that game because both teams are nervous about each other. A scrappy goal by either Brazil or England will do for a winning team.

hmmm.... we dont really know this about Portugal do we?
The players were annoyed at the end of the match and the likes of Figo (he announced his retirement i think) looked very disappointed ...probably more with themselves cos they were outplayed rather than anything else !
I think Italy left this tournament feeling cheated based on their last 3 matches where they 'struggled' more with refs /linesmen decisions than their opponents

Um, can't agree. I think apart from their first game they looked very ordinary throughout. I kept expecting them to pick up their game, but it just didn't happen.
The truth is, a couple of dodgy decisions notwithstanding (which happens ALL the time) they didn't deserve to progress.

yeah well sometimes it takes 1 bad decision to ruin your chances and send you out of the tournament ! England fans have been there a few times before ! :/

Yep, and that's the joy - and the pain - that is football and the World Cup!
God I love this game!

I guess it will be 3-1 to Brazil. Rivaldo and Ronaldo can do amazing things.

Work sucks
Since I have lost every World Cup game I've bet on so far. I might put a bet on England. Who knows? I could jinx England or break my drought. Although if my two other friends bet on this game, forget about it! They are the ultimate jinxes when it comes to sports betting.
Here's one example
2001 NBA Finals
Game 1 - Philadelphia vs LA Lakers.
LA Lakers had a perfect playoff record (11-0) coming into Game 1. My mate who got the sack from work that week, put his whole paycheck on LA Lakers and they lost! LOL! Philly even had injuries going into that game.
Now, back to the soccer.
So, what kind of bizarre haircut will Beckham unveil against the Brazillians tomorrow?

I can bet u on Brazil's victory

i dropped this matter last night but then i saw the news on TV about this thing... from what i saw on the NEWS it seems that Ahn Jung Hwan is BANNED from playing in Italy not just Perugia. if that's true, than Italy really is a VERY SORE LOSER...
So did Arsenal with their Japanese player who hardly played in the Premiership. Then he got to show what he could for Japan at the world cup and impressed many fans and commentators but Arsenal is still releasing him.

that's because Italy respects the Dutch or the Germans...
I read the article about Arsenal and their Japanese player Inamoto...
Wenger has steadfastly refused to play Inamoto in the Premiership, limiting his first-team appearances to two Worthington Cup ties and 20 minutes in the Champions League.
Inamota insisted, however, that he bore no hard feeling towards Wenger despite his year on the sidelines.
I just hope that after this World Cup, the world will have a little more respect for the Asian football..
