i dropped this matter last night but then i saw the news on TV about this thing... from what i saw on the NEWS it seems that Ahn Jung Hwan is BANNED from playing in Italy not just Perugia. if that's true, than Italy really is a VERY SORE LOSER...
There hasnt been an official statement from the Italian FA about the ban ,as far as I know, all ive seen and read is Perugia's statement. i checked some Itailan sites and news as well but i didnt find anything about a ban as such . I think the Italians- based on the fan sites and boards ive visited- are more pissed of the with the ref's decisions from the previous matches (valid goals being disallowed) more than anything else .
Overall i dont think Asian players ever got much respect in Europe but i too hope things will change now. Shame about Inamoto tho - i hope another team scoops him up now that he's up for grabs.

That was here in Munich where they beat the Germans 5-0 anyway. There's a large beerhall next to the hotel where the English team were staying but it closes at 11pm so thats untrue about the noise.
The Sun newspaper, an English Rag, hired an opentop double decker bus, drove to the place where the German team were stayin and woke them at some ungodly hour with a topless brass band. This was revenge for the Germans deliberately putting their team next to a noisy beer hall which closes at 11 anyway....misinformed misanthropy. So football related arsebiscuitry is nothing new. I also seem to remember the Italians pulling a similar hissy fit before involving someone named Poll...Research....

I guess thats a normal thing -we always hear stories from teams complaining afterwards , i think my fave being when England went to play Germany they stayed in a hotel next to some pub and the locals stayed up all night making lots of noise and most players couldnt get any sleep
I dont know how true that is ... btw
a
Yeah - that was last September in Munich - the locals were having their beer festival and were supposedly trying to keep the England team awake. In actual fact, I don't think they were, but the Sun newspaper organised it's own oompah band to play outside the German hotel anyway. It didn't seem to distract the England team too much though - given the result !!!
A couple of quotes from italy which I like:
"We fell foul of a conspiracy made possible by arriving at the World cup prostrate before the Powers, absolutely incapable of making ourselves heard by the all Poerful Beelzebub of the ball that has made an economic alliance with the new world of football"
Corriere sello Sport newspaper.
WTF ?????
And my favourite:
Panini are withdrawing 2 miilion of their stickers in protest. The director said
"We were indignant after the South Korea game, which went against the image of clean football we have promoted ..."
12 yellow cards ... 1 red card ... worst record of diving in the tournament ... ????

isnt this a bit extreme tho ?
A leading Church of England liturgist is hoping to ensure England's World Cup success against Brazil by writing a special prayer.
The Reverend Jeremy Fletcher, chaplain to the Bishop of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, was inspired to ask for heavenly help following the recent call in national newspapers to pray for Beckham's broken metatarsal to heal.
A PRAYER FOR THE QUARTER FINAL
Arise, O Lord, and let not Brazil prevail over us,
Put them in fear O Lord.
Rise up, O Lord, lift up your hand,
Confound the might of Ronaldo and Rivaldo
And put Ronaldinho to confusion.
O God, if nothing else, award us a dubiously offside goal in the last minute,
That the world may know that you are our God,
And through you we will triumph over our adversaries,
This time making it all the way to the final,
Even if it is on a Sunday and no one will go to church.
Amen

I think PSV Eindhoven are interested in Inamoto, he might replace van Bommel if he moves to Arsenal.
Here a quick quiz for you

Hiddink blasts 'childish' Perugia
Jason Neely
TAEJON, South Korea (Reuters) - South Korea coach Guus Hiddink has called the chairman of Italian club Perugia 'childish' for his decision to sack striker Ahn Jung-hwan.
Luciano Gaucci said he would no longer employ Ahn, whose golden goal eliminated Italy from the World Cup on Tuesday and put South Korea into the last eight.
'It's a childish reaction,' Hiddink told reporters at a training session on Thursday.
'You have to think of sports, and sports means players are all playing in different countries,' the Dutchman said.
'If there's England-France, do they say to (Frank) Leboeuf, do they say to (Marcel) Desailly, they cannot score against England in the corner kick? It's almost too ridiculous to talk about.'
FIFA said on Thursday it would not intervene in the decision by Perugia to sack Ahn after he scored the 116th-minute goal that put South Korea into the quarter-finals.
'It's between the player and the club,' FIFA communications director Keith Cooper told a news conference. 'It's not for us to interfere. No one has complained to us.'
Italy reacted with fury to the team's shock 2-1 elimination in the second round by the co-hosts.
They accused Ecuadorian referee Byron Moreno of playing a role in the defeat by showing playmaker Francesco Totti a red card, a call which prompted coach Giovanni Trapattoni to punch the glass behind the team bench towards a FIFA official standing on the opposite side of it.
As the squad prepared to leave South Korea on Thursday, local media said players refused to sign autographs for fans at the airport.
Perugia's Gaucci told sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport that Ahn would never set foot in Perugia again.
'He was a phenomenon only when he played against Italy. I am a nationalist and I regard such behaviour not only as an affront to Italian pride but also an offence to a country which two years ago opened its doors to him,' he said.
'I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian soccer.'
Ahn has been on loan to Perugia from South Korean club side Pusan I-cons since 2000 but struggled for a regular place in the team this season.
Even before the shock win over Italy, media report has suggested that Ahn would probably be released by Perugia, with English and German clubs among those interested in signing him.
