If you would pay attention how the referee ingored 2 clear goals of Spain your reply might have been a bit different and when it comes to penalty shootout, that's just a big lottery as everyone else knows.

I love football but many!!!! human errors are making me doubt about fair play where the solution or help could be easily applied.
And besides, read a bit on the internet what the rest of the world and newspapers think about that game...........
    im from OZ...
dude... i did watch the game and i do question the referee's decisions about the disallowed goals just as i question some of the decisions against Korea in the first half...

and u're entitled to your opinion about the referee's decisions but im sticking to what i said... whatever the referees decided in the games has nothing to do with the way Korea played and i bet u're not a professional football player or whatever so u're not in the position to judge that Spain is "much better" than Korea...

im just saying u can rant all u want about the referees but don't mention the other team coz it has nothing to do with them... and if you're suggesting some sort of conspiracy then u need to stop watching X-Files re-runs...

But just as much media is saying in the world, to add some kind of "video ref" into the game would change the whole flow of the game. Do you want a 90 minute game to take 3 hours like with American Football? It's a very complex issue that requires a great deal of thought by the powers that be. They know there's an issue, and the constant whinging does nothing to help solve the problem.

If the Italians and now the Spanish hadn't spit the dummy so much it would be looked at in good time. I'd certainly like to see what would have happened if it had been the other way round - if the "bad luck" had gone against the Koreans and for the supposed "super powers" of football.

Get over it guys, it will be sorted out in due course. In the meantime enjoy what has become the most wonderfully amazing World Cup ever!

Hi, I'm sure the USA/Germany has been commented on, but I ain't gonna go back 20 pages to find out...

Anyways, that was one incredible game! And the Germans are true bombers, the can't play for s**t on the ground, but that air-ball really connects. That goalie of theirs (forgot his name) is a real monster, nothin seems to go past him. Then you have a ref who's not helpin out...oh oh here we go again...Anyways, congrats to USA, it's a shame that americans don't give a crap though.

It's gonna be Brazil/Germany in the end, and statistically, Brazil has no chance...but hey maybe the Ronaldo's can pull off a stunt...and give Brazil their deserved 5th cup!!!!

    go brazil!

Really too bad. A truly great World Cup for them, in the only truly global sport, and most Americans glued to the set to watch their own "world series" that only American teams compete in?!?!

    Work that one out...

So true!!!! Baseball "World Series" yet who is playing, asides from them? UK, France, Australia???

It's funny, I have a great perspective on this since I work in a company here in Florida whose 300 employees are either american or brazilian (the main office being in Brazil). There's always an argument in the cafeteria as to whether we put on baseball, or that "sleepy, boring sport of yours" (soccer that is).
    ARRGGGGHHHH!!!!

It's almost like if the score's below 200 pts, it ain't worth watchin...

I hope Korea do go on to the final, the fans have been brilliant and they've played some good football, they also seem to be a much fairer team than any of the recognised football powers (i'm all for less diving, shirt pulling, and moaning at the ref).
However I can't see how anyone can say they've got this far with out the benefit of some highly suspect refereeing, it seems to be down to FIFA's insistance that referees from all the nations should take part , surely this is a competition to find the best team in the world and the matches should be officiated over by the best referees (or another way if someone like Collina had refereed the Spain v Korea match along with assistants with experience from other major leagues/competitons I think there would have been a different result)

Some of the conspiricy theories sourrounding this have been crazy, apparently it's all a plot by Sepp Blatter to punish the european nations who tried to force him out of FIFA. Don't think I believe that one

Since EA Sports made the official 2002 FIFA World Cup game, they did a virtual World Cup and their final was Italy v Brazil with Italy winning.

I live virginia and their were tons of Americans getting behind our team. My company Creative Technology Incorporated displayed the Germany vs. USA on our huge projector while employees could watch and cheer us on. This year has sparked a lot of enthuiasm for soccer or "football". The news channels had lots of coverage of the cup and showed local bars and such having the world cup parties. Things are changing here and we're liking soccer a lot more. It's to bad we lost to Germany, because if we went to the semis we'd be partyin like crazy.

Sure, as I said half the employees here are american and thanks to the brazilian's initiative, we let off work so we could all watch Germany/USA. And sure enough most people watching were americans!

I don't want to be cynical, but truth be told the media is anti-soccer. I was listening to a local radio station, and even as reports came in that team USA was kickin butt, the DJs were poking fun at soccer and nailed the coffin on the head as the US lost with a big "So What?! Big F***in Deal!!!". It kills me, how isolationist this country is.

Anyways, sorry for bringin down the mood... carry on with the Cup discussion!!! Cheers to all countries who made it this far!

I thought it was a comp to find out the best team at the World Cup?!?!
(ie. over the month of the comp)

Have a look through your history books. It's very often not the supposed "best team" that wins, but the team that happens to have a great run of goals and/or luck. Good luck to them.

Same as the Olympics. You telling me that the "favourite" wins every tie? Of course not, that's the beauty of sport, and one of the reason's football (soccer for the heathens) is so wonderful is that with often just one or two goals seperating teams anyone can win!

That has been the joy of this World Cup, and may it long continue.
