    WARNING ADULT CONTENT

Ok guys, my first post here in ages.

    http://horizontalhold.co.uk/war/

This one is a "sound" piece for a uni project. Consequently some of you may not hear the background rumbles (60hz) if you use a small set of speakers but the piece should work anyway.

Not the cleveriest piece but effective.
Not even original but still of interest.

    Feedback I would like:
    1. Whether it works on your system or how badly it shakes your speakers.
    2. grammer & text flow
    3. did I get my point across?
    4. Does it ramble on too much (my biggest fear!)

The file size is 274kb and the preloader is terrible but what do you think of the results?

    Be Harsh!

Worth watching. Yes, it did ramble, but built anticipation well. You were using my least favorite text effects, but that's just me.

*perhaps a certain warning should be placed in your post?

    No "perhaps" about it.

Flashkit is a "g" rated Board FULL stop.
Whats cool for you may/can offend others.

Please if you can write all that stuff up there about what your trying to achieve add another line in CAPS about what this movie contains or else the link will be deleted SOON.

Sorry, Didn't think about content rating.
Didn't think of it in that way at all actually.
Have put warning on original post does that suffice?

Hope so. If there is any "issue" with it the thread will be put in "storage" but I think most will get the idea.

Like you say, its not how you see things but how others do.

My critique..,, style, slightly school prankish.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

After a good think I have re-edited the piece, it was definitly verbose.

By doing so have also shaved off a few more Kb's (269Kb).

The text effect I wanted was fade into dust, couldn't do it short of making each sentence a graphic or two and increasing the file size dramatically.

I did not like the original preloader so I simplified it "Less is more".

I could still do with more feedback on the sound which after all is my main interest here.

    hi,

sound is fine and in sync (helicopter blades included).
whole thing makes you want to get a pistol and shoot
    up that beach.

Aaaaaahh, nothing like some good, clean, healthy fun on the beach!!

Just btw (not that it matters, I guess) but I'm sure you can bring the filesize way down by re-compressing that last jpg to about 50%.

Thanks for the feedback people - it all helps.

There are three audio samples, two of which are wavs compressed by swish and one compressed externally.
I think these are what make the filesize up.
I could not compress a loop outside of swish and import it as mp3 - you can hear it loop!
If you import as wav and compress it in Swish it sounds loads better though still not perfect and other audio problems (noises) are added.

Anyone know why this is the case?

The end image size is only 41Kb and is currently at a quality of 60 jpeg compression.
Dropping it to 50 will give a graphic file size of about 26Kb but the image quality is too poor.
I admit though (Alien in London village) you did make me check.

    A quick rant
    - I hate black backgrounds -
so this one just isn't ok!

I might just change the last line to
"ya wanna getcha pistol out and shoot up beaches"
I liked that one cheers bpaulsen2k.
Oh and I tried that site you mentioned, it didn't seem to work properly - emailed the webmaster.

And yes jofta schoolboy prankish is definitly the order of the day here no pretentions to art or originality.
    Now there's a novelty.

A quick question to the moderators.
There used to be someone called PURGE who hung out around here.
Any ideas of what he's done lately?
    That boy he rocks!

    once again thanks all.
