Swish Made Security Keypad
Okay I made this security keypad as a way of being able to put web pages online with only the people I want to be able to view them knowing the code to open them. I know that there are ways in html and java for doing this but well hey flash looks better. Anyway I would like opinions and comments on this and if anyone finds a bug that would be helpful too !!

code is: 680491

Good job
I think that is slick as the dickens.

Oh yeah just so you know I tried doing it all on one scene but that failed so I had to do it as six scenes. In the first scene only button 6 will move you to the second scene, in the second scene only button 8 will move you to the third scene and any other button will move you bcak to frame 0 of scene 1, the same applies to the other scenes as that only one button will move you to the next scene and all other buttons move you back to frame 0 of scene 1. once at frame 0 of scene 6 and the right button is pressed it moves onto frame 1 of scene 6 and the yellow/black cover moves back allowing access to the enterbutton which is only placed at the end of that animation thereby only allowling you to go to the desired html page once all numbers have been correctly pressed in the right order. For more number codes it is a simple matter of adding more scenes. I hope this helps if any one is thinking of making something similar.

All I had to do to unlock it is to press Right Click -> Play about 6 or so times.

Nice.
I viewed it without sound on.
This caused slight frustration as I had no indication that a button had been pressed.
I would suggest either an onClick state for the buttons or a display showing them.
That would increase usability but would not address accessibility.
Thought the leds were quite cute.
hope that helps.

we slack so you don't have to.

Thanks for the nice comment
As I posted in the "help" section
I had a flash ( pardon the pun ) of inspiration and came up with a better way of solving the play X 6 security issue. As the 6 scenes of the movie were all only one frame long every time you pressed play it automatically took you to the first frame of the next scene. This was a problem and what caused the security issue in the first place. However I thought about it and have added a "go to frame 0 of scene 1" command at frame 5 of each scene so now if you do right click and press play all it does is got to frame 1 of scene 1 move to frame five and back to frame 0 again therefore fixing the security issue of play X 6 this way I can still insert into a htm/html page instead of exporting the movie as a html. Dunno if that will be of any help to others out there but just in case I thought I would post this solution.
Chances are the average surfer wouldn't know anything about cracking into *.swf files therefore after consideration I feel that this security form is as good as any other ( html javascript etc ). Thanks to Hannibal Smith for finding my flaw and to everyone that helped me on the track of solving said issue.
I will be adding a downloadable customisable zip file for this piece as soon as I have completed the section for showcasing swish made sprites, interfaces and neat little gadgets on my site with the veiw that people can download and use whatever is there for their own uses and will post about that as soon as I have the time to complete the work involved.

about the sercurity issue
Hey Gabriel,
This is really a very neat idea, but I do have a question though, you mentioned that you added a goto frame 0 of Scene 1 to the 5th frame of every scene, I was wondering aren't you looping every scene anyway, I mean when a user clicks on the right code it takes them to the next scene, right? so don't you have a goto frame 0 action set on frame 1 of every scene to keep it looping until the user clicks on another right number? so how does the action goto frame 0 of scene 1 on the 5th frame help? I didn't understand that, maybe I'm not understanding the mechanics behind the whole thing. But at any rate, magnificent piece of work, absolutely an original idea.

Actually I never thought about looping the frames. I added a stop at frame 0 of each scene. The reason I added a goto frame 0 of scene 1 at frame 5 of each scene was so that there was room incase I wanted to add anything else in there. I will be submitting this piece to flashkit as soon as I have made a blank copy with a readme on exactly how to alter it for your own 6 ( or more ) figure code, you can then download the zip from there and take a peek inside to see the mechanics of the piece. thanks for the compliment though.

Seeing as I had a little time spare and I had to do it soon anyway I wrote the readme for the piece and submitted to flash kit as a customisable blank. I will add another posting to this thread as soon as I hear from flash kit and know that they have posted it along with the zip for people to download
On a personal note I have already had a private email about the piece from someone who already want to use it for their own site and has requested that I send it to them. Personally that's all the justification I need for the time I spent making this piece and for frying my own head in figuring out a way to deal with the play X 6 bug that someone else likes my work enough to want to use it themsleves ... like I said that's all the justification I need to continue to make more pieces. Thanks to all that helped either by opinion, bug detection or bug solution.

I can still View Source -> Get URL and then Paste the SWF's URL in and do the Play X6 method.

First of all, congratulations gabrielangeles for the idea (it`s great!), and congratulations Hannibal Smith for finding ways to put it down. That`s the best way to improve it.
It`s true. You can still get through by getting the .swf itself.
I would stick a go to frame 0 of scene 1 action after each one of the stop actions, so when the movie plays (through right click), surprise! It plays back
Cheers!

Yes the Play X 6 bug did cause a problem but i cleared that up when I made version 1.3 of the keypad though the one still showing at the top of the forum there is V1.2. As suggested I did indeed place a go to frame 0 of scene 1 after all the stops on each scene to deal with this bug. Other than cracking into the swf I think it is as secure as I can get it now. As I said I have uploaded V1.3 to the flashkit submissions and am waiting for them to post it along with a comprehensive readme.

Flash Kit have now posted the latest version V1.3 of the Security Keypad so any one who liked it and would like to download and use it are now welcome to do so.
http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Inter...7152/index.php
The downloadable zip file contains the swi and swf of the blank keypad and a comprehensive readme that I wrote with newbies in mind so that anyone, regardless of how long they have been swishing, can add a six figure code to the keypad.
Thanks again to all that helped in the creation of this.
