Ok, my missreading..

Liked the site very much. I agree with Jofta about the drop-down panel on the home page for news etc. If he had not mentioned it I would not have even known it was there. Also in your Competition write-up you have a typo. I believe the fourth line down is out of place, or redundant.
Other than that I really enjoyed the visit, excellent work.

Hi there Robert, Well doesn't sound like you've got the kind of response you were hoping for, i mean, 'Constructive Criticism'....
Any now here's what i think of your update, but let me begin by saying...You really didn't need to make any changes, everything was pretty cool.
here goes:
1)Don't take this the wrong way,But i really think you should remove the "God Bless America" bit, we all know and are saddend by America's Great Misfortune i.e 11th September, it just sounds very... well, you know what I mean,,Why should we all want God to only Bless America?, What about U.k, Australia, Asia, Japan, Russia, Italy, all the Asian Countries, etc etc.. for a God fearing Person, and Spiritually inclined musician, the statement should be "God Bless All Mankind" or the like.. People over here in the U.k also dislike that comment and find it a little Supremacy over all nations, selfish inclined.. and and it's a shame to spoil the entrance to a ...well, the best Swish site i've seen on the Whole of this Forum.
I'me Glad you haven't used certain things in your site that help is available for in the forum, cos people then tend to think, that if you haven't got a get bytes Preloader, or Javascript pop-ups, Or Coloured Scroll bars etc, or a Tell target/Transform actioned move to the left and to the right thing, then your site isn't really up to scratch...you know what i mean,
2) O.k..Right at the beginning you have changed the basic black oblong that slides in from the right into a bevelled box..kinda looks like a large button, i'd have kept it plain cos it's in sync with the rest of it.
3) In the Calendar section, i know you've used a pixel font for the outer bit but the info text is quite blurry/not very sharp, try using Ariel Black at 9 0r 10 with -5 spacing and see how that looks. maybe try keeping to the pixel font..mmm but then again, that blurs horribly at larger the 8px don't it..
I can see you've made use of masking in the way not commonly seen on sites in the forum, and also, i can see you improved you header grahics..very nice and sharp.
As for design, creativity, Design that's fit for purpose,
animation/illustration, colour co-oridantion and ..i could go on...Your site IS the best I've seen in this Forum..I'm not crawling up you cake....e it's just simply True, and credit is given where it is due.
Just remember, you don't have to have the latest Javascript tactic, or HTML/DHTML, or even Flash Gymnastics in your site for it to be really cool, just good clean high quality looking images, neat layout, smooth animation if any, to the point contsructive interface, sound colour balance and co-oridantation and a great sense of 'sound'. which i may add, are all prevailant in your sight...Well Done!
Oh and this frame rate thing, well I began my first swish site at 12Frames Per Second cos that's what it said in a Flash tutorial book, but hey man, what a load of bull, when i tested the site on a Pentium 11 450 Mhz, the animation was as slow as pie..so i changed my framerate to 20 fps..and all the move effects had to change too, still a little slow, but it's bearable, but do note one thing, if you use a very high frame rate, then say a 10 frames move effect in a 20fps will be a lot smaller in size than in a say 50 fps movie but also to achieve the same smoothness that is in 20fps, a 20-30- frames move effect is needed, which inturn increases the file size.
I was intending to Put a Download Sounds section in my site but am thinking twice about it, it's not that i'm not capable, far from it, i just think some people tend to think "who do you think you are" sort of thing and they completely miss the point! i really believe people could do with a new bag of sounds to use in their Swish sites, cos ime hearing sounds commomplace at present, wrong tones, out of key button sounds, most of them bland.. what do you think?
anyway, it's getting late, guess that's all i had to say.
Good Look at your gig!
ps. look out for the Tracks section in my site when i put it up for sitecheck, i hope you'll like our album tracks.

Wow, thanks for your thoughful post.
here goes:
"1)Don't take this the wrong way,But i really think you should remove the "God Bless America" bit, we all know and are saddend by America's Great Misfortune i.e 11th September, it just sounds very... well, you know what I mean,,Why should we all want God to only Bless America? I didn't say God bless ONLY America, I said God bless America. It is a slogan that is used often in America. Besides, the attacks happened here, not in any of the countries you mentioned. Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't care what the U.K. (or anyone) thinks about "God bless America." Being PC isn't my game. It's called free speech, and that freedom is most cherished when someone says something another person might not like. We are on the same side here, don't forget.
".. and and it's a shame to spoil the entrance to a ...well, the best Swish site i've seen on the Whole of this Forum."
It might spoil it for some people...that is their problem, not mine. When the U.K. has 3,000 dead civilians in downtown London with nuclear threats occuring almost daily, then we'll see whether or not the British start calling on a higher power. It is a shame that someone can't even mention God anymore without some sort of controversy. But thanks for your comments about the site.

I will probably move to a bytes preloader eventually. The drop down menu uses the tranform action, btw.
"2) O.k..Right at the beginning you have changed the basic black oblong that slides in from the right into a bevelled box..kinda looks like a large button, i'd have kept it plain cos it's in sync with the rest of it."
That large black box is a piano key. Think about it from the side. It's two white keys and a Black key in the middle. The black key was made in Swift 3d and imported. It look exactly like a piano, IMO.
"3) In the Calendar section, i know you've used a pixel font for the outer bit but the info text is quite blurry/not very sharp, try using Ariel Black at 9 0r 10 with -5 spacing and see how that looks. maybe try keeping to the pixel font..mmm but then again, that blurs horribly at larger the 8px don't it.."
I didn't use pixel fonts in the calendar because they would not be aligned whenever someone scrolled.
"I can see you've made use of masking in the way not commonly seen on sites in the forum, and also, i can see you improved you header grahics..very nice and sharp."
Thanks.

Thanks again! Too bad I can't enter it into the contest. The guestbook uses a little flash 5 code, and the total site (all pages) is over 1MB.

I dunno what you mean...are you saying that you are going to give away sounds on your site? That would be cool. How is your site coming along?

Well Robert, I didn't mean to tread that ground in any disrespect to you, your freedom of speech or America and most certainly didn't mean to offend you..if i have that is.
I can understand where your coming from, but i'me sure you knew what i meant and i didn't mean it in a bad way whatsoever. but hey man Thousand upon thousands of Human Beings are killed, masacred, all over the world, every single day and because of the power of the media/Propaganda, some countries never get to hear about it. not curbing your freedom of speech so to say, i just thought it a wiser approach if blessings were willed upon the entire humanity on the face of this earth..not just America. you see what i mean.
Anyway sorry i missed the Piano key thing, maybe i was looking alittle too hard, shall revisit!
Great work either way, oh and yes, i was going to create a series of sounds, guitar lick, riffs and things for people to download for free, but don't know now.

Hi to all!!!
This thread has been very entertaining to read... (LOL)
But overall, i'd say that the site looks very good. Very good choice of colors, not too flashy but efficient in your use of animations, etc...
I went back several times and it's true that your preloaders don't take much time on the second visit. But I was wondering: wouldn't it be better to load your other movies directly into a sprite without the preloaders? (just wondering).
Anyway, excellent job. I enjoyed my visit and your site gave me a lot of ideas for our company's next web site (which will be totally on Swish).

I updated my site again a couple days ago.
I just received an email stating that my layout is there, but there is no movie. Would someone mind checking to see if this is true...when I go there, the movie is there just fine, so I need other people to check.

Just the frames

Quickest that sites ever loaded

OK, try it now. I think I had it referencing
the movie on my own hard drive, lol.

Yep. its back.
Good "depth of field" I think they call it. Bit of a "stage" element there and its good.
The copyright notice is a bit fuzzy and features for the full show!!
Well done.

Swish Junkie
First thing that came across my mind was 500k loading, upon which I wanted to close the window, but I persued the loading bar all the way to the end. Now this is what really got me, 500k loading and then additional loading for each of the options! Now this is where I hit the cloase button, and done it quickly before 10 minutes of my time was wasted.
IT SHOULD HAVE A BIG WARNING!! NOT FOR DIALUP!
(Sorry about the sarcasm/jokes, couldnt resist)
Way too big of a file for the 56ker, nice effects (a masterpiece), but, (and this is the thing that I witness time and time again)Its nothing memorable. How can i explain this, let me see...
I guess these days where flash is almost second nature, sites which do not have that originality or sense of weirdness seem to drown within htmlpages, (happens to me). Something special is what people are looking for, or at least I am, I want to go to the site and experience something which will blow my mind. Well that is probably the best way I can describe it.
I got into swish first when I saw http://www.xeofreestyle.com, approx 1.5 yrs ago, and it was trully an amazing site...graphically. I must have spent at least 5 hours (cumulative) just viewing the intro, and every single time with my jaw dropped to the floor. All I wanted to do the first thing my rustbucked modem had its transistors tickled with electricity was to get on the net and look at the site.
That is what I am talking about. It was something special, and still is, although not as much as before. Nevertheless it captured my mind and I dont think I will ever forget it!
These are the sort of sites which push the boundries of web animation and these are the sites not to whoom everyone should be looking to recreate or mimick but evoke the the imagination and originality of website design!
Well that is it in a nutshell. Too, (dont take it the wrong way) regular, although perfected at its regularity.

Thanks Jofta. My site was down a whole week and I didn't even know it.

Hmmm. Excelent Page but now it is time to tell you what I like and don't like bout your page. I don't like the beleval line at the begining I liked you black line that you had. Don't care when you choose an option there is a white rectangle behind it. I don't like how your name looks on the top right side. But I have some suggestions for you first you should have it so everytime you click an option the top right logo would have the same effect like the main one on the home. On you drop down I would change the line back to the way you had it it is very hard to read with that huge white line going up and down love that idea though.Same thing with you faq awsome entrance I like that but you cant read the faq content. That is my suggestion for the page love it though nice job. By the way its way faster now

Could you please edit your footers.
Flashkit rules are ...
ONE footer
300 x 40 pixel dimension
15k or less file size.
Both of yours are in excess of 20k each !!
Appreciate you editing this, and also check your email

Yes...this it great. I like it a lot. The preloaders for each new "link" are working fine. Lots of sound. I've seen the site before the update. This 1 is faster and looks perfect.
