I guess many people don't know this. Was just interesting in a discussion about it and some ideas to make it difficult to do it.

What I know, it make it harder with a flash loading another flash, especially a new dynamic short-time-working url?

    kind regards
    Tomas

u could also not include the source code in the swf, but in external files, i.e. encoded text files

it is very wasy to do it...
    but not worth it.
i dont do it, but you need a $50 program to do it.
if you want to be a "#4Xx0|2", you can go to http://www.edmack.com/ [mod edit, you just can't post that]
as i said, i dont use it, and you shouldn't either...

    BTW:
they can also steal you symbols

There is no need of spreading information about where you can get tools.

hmmm...this is going in the wrong direction! I hate the thought of putting weeks not to say months into something that others can just grab in a second...nevertheless it's reality, and I don't think there's any way around it! If someone really wants to hack your .swf they will!

A guy from jail*****.com made a game before he got out of the flash scene entirely. When he closed his site he was not interested in if people used his stuff and i'd love to be able to get the source for one of his old files for a project I want to get into, if anyone has this could they contact me and i'll sent you the swf. gary@arcadenetwork.com

Yes, yes.. I know.. I am currently braking my head against the wall for it. :P I forgot the name. Maybe it's somewhere between the paperwork... *sigh*

I'll try to find out tomorrow.

Maybe not a game subject. I just thought internet games seems to be a pretty interesting thing in the near future, and the game logics is one of the things you often want to kept secret. Grab'n'watch doesn't sound so fun. Maybe there is a combination of SSL and server programming to make it pretty safe. But it had been more nice if you could do it easier.

There is a decompiler/compiler that allows you to convert swfs to bytecode and back, allowing for massive optimisation, and making it impossible for others to read (unless they decompile it back to bytecodes, fix it and then compile, but at that ammount of work they may as well just make it themselves)

The program is called Flasm. You can look at it here:

    O_o

    There are??!!!

Even for C++ and the like. So you're saying I can decompile Dungeon Siege and then make significant changes and recompile it?
    WoW! That's bad..

    Ray Beez:

The different is, if you code in Flash MX you can get the original script code (very readable anyway), it's not possible in all languages!

OK you can see all languages in byte-code/assembler, but then you should be a really good programmer to edit that.

    kind regards
    Tomas

Just wondering .. along the same lines. Do the comments in the .fla get compiled with the SWF or disgarded?

    Cheers,
