    After 5min of loading i gave up, you should make a preloader to tell people how much is done loading and how much longer they have to wait. I noticed you were using Geocities, maybe it was slow because of them... I use Brinkster, http://www.brinkster.com they're better than geocities, so if you want you can check them out.

    ooohhhhhyyyyywwwww!

    grumblemarc I want input on the homepage not you stating the odvious about pages I have not yet completed.
    Anyway judging from the look of your website I dont really want your opinion. I may as well ask my dog because he would be more helpful. Now grumblemarc stay out of my messages if you only have negative comments.

    Sorry. This is an open forum and as such, and on this forum in particular, people are allowed to give OPINIONS regardless of whether or not the thread starter agrees with them or not. This is a SITEcheck forum yet you continue to post sites that are nowhere near completed. The title of your thread was "My NEW Business Website" Not "Comments on the homepage of the new site I'm working on". People will get tired of incomplete sites and you will start to notice that no one will comment on a site with nothing to comment on.

    As for the homepage it looks just like an HTML page. Nothing too exiciting there. Should of just stuck to Frontpage or something if you wanted that kind of look. I admit it is cleaner than your previous efforts but nothing extraordinary. And yes, you definently need to get a preloader going. No one will comment on your site, good or bad, if they never get to see it.

    No one is insulting you. It seems you don't want any comments if they are not the ones you are looking for-ie: "good job", "great start", etc.

    As long as you keep posting I'll be here rendering whatever comments I feel I need to make. Whether you dont like or don't want them.

    As for my site if there is something in particular you would like to comment on please find the thread and fire away. But please don't result to vague insults in an effort to redeem your own sites shortcomings.

    If you don't wanna take the bad as well as the good, DONT POST YOUR SITE HERE. yeah it sux, but at least you know what people think, and ur site it took long 2 load, and i saw hardly any SWiSH on it.

  7. #7

    Hi

    what do you mean hardly any swish?
    THE SITE WAS MADE IN SWISH AND IS TOTALLY SWISH YOU a******!!!!!!
    No grumblemarc it was not made with html I made it!!!!!!
    and no I dont want to just hear good things about my site. I know some aspects suck and some dont but you dont give the good and bad points you just give the bad.
    In order for me to know what to change and what not to change I need to know both the good and bad elements and you just seem content in highlighting the bad.
    Well I tell you what if you are such the expert (which it does not look like from your site) then you make ity and lets see how you do.
    just for the fun of it I have had a look at all of your comments on my websites and I havce not found 1 that shows anything possitive and infact you have been very rude and if I had my way i would block you and some of your little buddies out of this message board.
    Here is your que to come back with some logical but floored comment:

    got to love this site 'eh? ha ha ha ha.

    ok, my beef....
    drop the rollover sound for the menu bar. it becomes very annoying after the third or forth button. ask yourself, "how does this sound contribute the functionality of my site?" i would argue...it doesn't.

    also, have at least one or two links that work. it does become annoying to look at partially completed sites. think of someone asking for you to check out their car and they only washed part of the outside and cleaned one seat.

    hope this helps
    k

    i forgot to mention that i do get a runtime error when it
    loads up, but i have no problem loading it. my connection
    is for *(&(&F too! 144 up/down.

    I think your site looks fine, that is if you were going for an html look. It loaded fine on cable, but the frame rate seemed very slow. I think that if you want to make a swish site, then have it be something cool, and original looking, not just an html looking site.

    Man calm down! You're gonna bust a vein. The reason why it appears that I have not commented in positive fashion towards your efforts because you have yet to give any one anything to comment on. Sorry but it's the truth. And I know the whole site was made with SWiSH. So does everyone else. I said it had an HTML look to it. If that's what you're going for then you did your job. But as for my opinions, well it seems that others are bearing those out.

    If you want to know what to change then it has to be the negative aspects. Would you change the good aspects of your site? No. No one would. You have to get the negative and turn it into a positive. As for the positive aspects of your site I dont know because there isn't any thing there to comment ON!

    Now as for negative and downright hostile, all the things you claim that I am, look no further than your own post spouting profanity at another board member. You are the one attacking people who are just giving their honest opinions. That kind of behavior will get you banned.

    So just chill out. I never said I was an expert. Maybe you seem to think that I might be but I just do this in my very spare time. Today happens to be my day off. And I'm still waiting to hear from you what it is about my site that you don't like. Here's your opportunity to dish it out since you can't seem to take it.

    more comments....

    -the flying 'w' gets a bit old after a minute.
    -none of your links work so we cannot get the feel for how the site would 'actually' look and feel.
    -i constantly get a runtime error when loading this site up. i don't get that with anyone else's site.
    -your main page talks about the use of 'flash' and how necessary it is to web sites these days. if so, why didn't you employ any features of flash....other than a flying 'w'?

    now for what you 'want' to hear.....
    -this looks amazing. the best site i've ever seen in my life. this should be a feature site at flaskit.com. it blows the *&^*^ out of mini usa and 21k coahuila, both in terms of concept design and technical use of flash.
    -somehow you were able to make swish look exactly like an html page. this must have taken months to do. why is it that none of the other members of this site thought of that? dang! you are ahead of your time.
    -best looking menu bar i've ever seen. very straight. you've got that 'up and down' thing working well. very original. good use of black fonts on a gray background. i don't believe i've ever seen this before.

    hope this helps,
    k

    now this IS a nice thread

    enterprise, don't expect too many constructive replies when there's not too much to see on your site (yet).

    as the others, i also don't understand why you did the complete page in swish...? updating will be a pain and it'll take ages to load. apart from the 'w'(which will play extremely sluggish on slow machines) flying across the screen (i think one time would be enough), i don't see any reason why you didn't do only the menu in swish.

    the menu at the left acts a bit weird, e.g. i can't select
    "swish personal", or "website logos"... you'll have to tweak the rollover actions.

    the beep sound is a bit annoying.

    if you'll build only the menu in swish (and perhaps the animated banner on top), and do the rest in html, you'll probably have a decent looking site.

    This site looks too HTMLish for a Flash Site. Also, it's going to be a pain to edit 10+ SWiSH movies whenever you need to update or maintain the site.

    1) Mouse overs are annoying
    2) I have to scroll ??
    3) Too much to read for a "Welcome" page
    4) If you want it to look like a portal, believe me, get a real portal. Why, Ease of use (Read Hannibals comments) Database capability. Searchability etc etc

    Get a portal and put a Swf banner or two in it.

    You will be glad you did.

    Try this in the HTML source :

    <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" leftmargin=0 topmargin=0 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scroll="no">

    id="web1" width="100%" height="100%">
    <param name="movie" value="web1.swf">
    <param name="menu" value=false>
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF">
    <embed name="web1" src="web1.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"
    width="100%" height="100%"
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash"

    Change it to 100% you will see what I mean.

    regards,
