Do you really want the black background? Why not try a dark grey, or even white?

nah don't use any shadow coz you made your logo to have that business card look... one thing though move your name a bit further from the edge...

you dont need the latest and greatest version of photoshop for a simple logo... its not like theres a logo maker 3000 built in.

anyway, photoshop will take a while to learn, till then take a look at some logos of companies, different design sites, etc. what is the logo trying to say? a little gradient and crosshair looking thing says next to nothing about "diffusion" to me at least.

just try to keep it to simple solid shapes, in case you ever have to put it on paper.. gradients dont print very well on your average printer. (not talking professional printers)

Diffusion is an easy word to build around.

pour some ink or some food coloring in a glass of water. Catch a pic of the ink or food coloring diffusing out (on a macro setting). You'll get that cool looking cloudy look from that.

Catch it a nice angle, and then work on making that a logo. The photograph itself can be used as a splash screen, while you can turn it into an actual logo by tracing it in a vector program. Logos are simple. Look at Pepsi's logo.
