Thread: Is this menu cool?

Hybrid View

Working on my hompage and wanted some input on what I have come with so far. All I have is the navigation system. It was done in flash MX so you may need to upgrade.

Feel free to criticize and let me know what you like or dislike. One thing I noticed is that the flash may be processor intensive.

Also if you have any ideas of what I can do once a button is clicked. I don't know what kinda window to pop up loading the new page.

    Thanks for helping me out!!

    OK

I like the 3D work, nicely done.

The Fonts I don't like as much, too old fashion, needs somthing more modern. not script type fonts.

The buttons could possiably have a diffrent shade. looks better and easily identifiable. a graident from dark to light green.

Not sure what you can do after you click. I know what you mean. diffcult page layout. maby you can zoom on to the ball. You dont HAVE TO have the same circular balls, you could strighten it whens its stright

Hope that made sence and helped.

    Nice work.

Yeah I agree it is a bit different.
Did you try clicking on a button and see the menu move to the right?
MAybe I will have a page pop up to the right but I'm stumbling on a design.
Its amazing how much thought i put into a stupid homepage.

    Thanks for the input!!

I like the concept. I agree on the font deal. I would go for either of the other suggestions, or if all else fails I revert back to verdana. Just really easy to read. I think you could polish the color scheme a bit also. Maybe something a bit more toned down..hard to say until you see it I guess. One other main point is how you will transition into the next scene. You could pretty crazy on that with the 3d, or else something real basic and fast. Good work... Hey you're now a network engineer/flash designer...don't sell yourself short...Jer

its a good menu design, but I do think a color change would make it look a bit more professional. Maybe grayscale the Z and the grid this would make it look more trendy but does add a professional flair. A

Also on the multimedia rollover you had a box thing with dials on it... I think it was one of those tapes you see on the history channel... ( heh heh ) Try cranking out a CD for the multimedia section if you can get it to rotate well it would seem a bit more appropriate

    thanks

Thanks for the color advice. To tell you the truth I'm not really going for a professional look. Just a personal page. I'm not into web design nor marketing myself for it. Its just a site for my family to keep current on what I'm up to. But thanks for the advice I might try it out.

The multimedia page is going to have video clips of me when I was younger so the video tape fits the scheme.

The interaction page is going to have my webcam and webchat.

Any advice what I should do to pop up the new page?

    I can't think of a window design.

Thanks again for the good advice
