iam faitly new to this swish and well webstuff too,

    i have a problem with http://www.clan-fmj.com

iam trying to use clipped movies and import them into a swish movie but i cannot get lower file sizes than 150-200kb there are 6 of which i want to insert as i have done but it takes forever for the the intro to load

i have used windows movie maker to clip certain scenes from an 8mb file but movie maker only allows me to save to a .WMV file so i had to use a program called blaze media convert to convert to a file that V2Ft can recongnise, the file type that i convert to is a .MPG which is the only one that has smaller file size.

i have fond other programs such as wildform flix and such but none seem easy to use, iam only doing this for a group of mates that just play http://www.battlefield1942.com and dont want to pay for a program iam only going to use once .

can anyone help is there a way i can import movies into a swish movie with a file size of say 50-80kb???

This is going to depend on the size of the original movie. You can only compress them so much without giving up resoulution.

I think the way may be.. You import your movies in Flash MX and export them as Flash 4 movies (widh reduced jpeg quality options). Then import them into swish. I think it will reduce the size of movie too much..

well the weird thing is that when i clip them from windows movie maker the .WMV files of each clip are only about 60kb with just about the right amount of detail (not too much not too little) i have to convert them into a different file format so that V2Ft can recongnise them thats the problem converting them to a .mpg or .avi makes the files huge, in any case i will try to import them into flashmx and export them into a flash 4 movie

    thanks for your help

    cheers

well looks like its back to the drawing board

i can only export the wmv's to a flash 6 format and swish doesnt import those correctly it only imports a white box

i have tried to export the movies from within flashmx to flash 4 but it doesnt allow apparently there are features in the imported wmv file that is not supported in flash 4?

    anyways was worth a try

    Swideo or Flix

    And the benifit is.

either/or exports to streaming video format unlike v2f
Of which you can load movie into a sprite or layer

    Flix
    http://wildform.com
    Swideo
    http://swideo.com

    FYI I wouldn't suggest converting from wmv8
    as it's copywrite protected.

i have tried wild form but i get wildform plastered all over it and swideo only allows me to import from .mov (quicktime) that would take me back to having to convert file types again something which ihave found increases file sizes too much

converting from .wmv because i used windows movie maker the only thing i know how to use and its free : /

    ya ok well thats it

i tried vegas video by sonic foundry and rendered the video in quicktime format so that swideo can recognise the format i tried flash 3,4,5 conversions and bang import it into swish and woooooo i get one whole big frame so no video there either seems theres issues with swf formats between flash and swish anyone like to verify

the only thing that seems to work for me is if i convert to anyfile type that V2Tf can recongnise for some reason its the only video to flash converter that lets swish do whats its supposed to do (from my experience that is) i might be doing something wrong but i dougbt it who knows

    any other ideas people?

As for the logo yeah well it's not freeware.

As for using any streaming format
Your not supposed to import it.,,,,,,,,

    Your supposed to load movie.
Otherwise it loses all of it's streaming attributes.

Also did you go to the swf export panel for swideo and make sure stop on 1st frame was unchecked?

Streaming content is where by the data is sent in bits so that it is a continuous stream.
Swish doesn't have audio streaming capabilites nor video.

Instead of having to download the entire swf before it will play the streamed swf sends the file in smaller streamed bits just like real, windows media player and quicktime.

Here's an example of a streamed video swf.
    http://oaklanddesign.com/movies/fight.html

    this file is 1 mb

No preloader used. so it takes a little bit for the first segment to download.

    might have to try it

can you set the location of where the movie is going to appear and would the timing be right?

If you load your movie into a sprite.

    You can set it's location.
However swideo puts the 0,0 co ordinates. at upper left
Swish puts 0,0 coordinates at center.

So you have to place a transform action on the sprite.

Say your movie is 400,400 and your sprite is the same dimensions.
In order to correct the 0,0 coodinates you need to subtract half of each
    X-=200, Y-=200

    Another note.

If you place the sprite within another sprite
Then you can apply some basic (not advanced mind you)
    Effects to the upper sprite.

I don't know if these features will work in swf5 plugins
    Works good in 6
