    Still nothing on this?
Easy to import to Flash, but it would be much nicer to have them as MP3.

swa is the format for mp3 compressed audio within Director.

It is just an mp3 with some extra header data.

If you can actually import SWA into Flash, (I havent tried this myself) then you can have Flash export the audio from the FLA as a wav or mp3.

Read FAQ #28 for more information.

Thanks, they seem to work pretty well with Flash if you just treat them like MP3, so you can import them on the fly.
If I do import them, is there a way to _batch_ export them? A few hundred of the little blighters and I have no intention of doing it manually!

Flash wont be able to batch export.

On the other hand, if Flash can import them, then I should think any regular audio editor could to.

SWA is not listed as a supported import format, so Flash probably sees it as just as regular mp3. So would an audio editor like www.goldwave.com

    long way round.....

If you can screen cap as avi
you can edit in virtual dub and export the sound as a wav.

    Fast way round:

Yes, Goldwave recognises the SWA as MP3, which means you can batch convert the whole directory into something which the rest of the world will recognise.

    Excellent stuff, thanks!
