    File Import

Using the Add Element, File Import I tried to load a family photo: firstly as a .jpg, then a conversion of it to .gif and also as a .bmp.
Each time I get a dialogue box "unknown file format".
Any info to keep a perplexed pensioneer sane would be welcomed.
Some pics that I have downloaded from the web [.jpg or .jpeg] load ok, but not mine?

    hi
i had this problem several times too. try this:
import the files via the library. then you can add an images folder.
now you should see all the pictures in the chosen folder.
well, sometimes there are some images i can't see, but i don't know why.
    greetings

    Thanks 'C' for the info.
Unfortunately its not working for me .jpeg,.gif or .bmp.
Went thru' the library "Add Pictures" and it placed the folder in its list but showed none of the pics [they are there but don't show up when searching the library].
    Thanx anyway

    File Import

Thanks Chreigszocker for pointing me in the right direction:
Having tried every known file extension by conversion [all failed the 'add element'try], then placed all pics in a folder named 'mypics' in 3DFA library/images,
Ran 3DFA and used the menu to 'open'an image file:
This worked, so I then used the menu 'save as'...bitmap:
Thus saving it back into the same 'mypics' folder that I had inserted in library/images/:
Lo & behold...when starting a new movie and 'add element' from library....there they all were.
    What a relief.
3DFA is such a great prog and fun to use/play with....even more so now, the built-in features are invaluable to such as me.
    Regards

Amazing - it worked yesterday but not today.
This time used Irfan View to convert all .jpg to Windows .bmp and placed in the library/image/mypics folder and guess what....they all show and are all usable.
Can't wait till tomorrow to see what happens next...
