    Domain name registration.

    Hey does anyone know the best placed for damain name regitration is? I need to do that before findng a host

    I use GKG.net for domain registration.
    It's 9.95 per year, no strings attached. You don't have to like, host with them, promise your firstborn child and sell your soul to them or anything.

    There are plenty of strings attached with places that do free domain registration or very inexpensive registration. If your site goes big, then next year they'll charge you $300 or in one of my client's cases, $50,000. We had to take them to court.

    We've tried a bunch of different registrars and I prefer godaddy.com
    DNS changes seem to propagate the quickest thru them.
    Consequently, I've had to wait over 48 hrs to get a DNS change to take thru 1and1.com

    Also you can always find coupon/promo codes online for godaddy at sites like http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/725207/

    Currently you can use the promo code cjc689FAT to register a .com for $6.89 (coupon expires 6/30/2010).
