you should have just posted your info kck ... always appreciated
naw-in essence i was gonna say, 'work really hard and be very patient.'

you are talking techniques which i appreciate.

i ran into this with you before serpent-when you pulled that salamander on me in a wh battle. i thought you had done the skinning on that.

i went and reviewed a project i did that was similar-reskinning a snake and, it's superficially passable but you can pretty easily tell where i got lazy or just gave up. in other words, the seams are showing.

naw, I actually just cut out the salamander from a photo and used a glass filter from some plugin that I had over the entire composition to give it that rendered look... so while it came off pretty cool, there really was no photoshop saavy involved, I'm slightly embarrassed to admit.

I'm glad you came back to discussing this, because again skinning came up ... and where I was trying to lead was the combination of stuff ... the textures available in 3D skinning are widely available, yet outside most Photoshop technique ... could be used for some really unique stuff [your examples] ...
the displacement map direction is how to get those parts to look formed to the skin ... your contribution [skinning] is the part I haven't explored.

just like we might trade Photoshop brushes, my art director cruises sites for shared textures [skins] for use in Poser ...

    combining is the word

just leaving work ... might have some time to play, but I'll prolly post late

    mmm-hmmm.

i've played with it a bit but have no 3d skills to speak of.

this is a fairly interesting link to displacement mappage though the intent is a bit more straightforward than supering skin.

I know I keep going directly opposite of establishing a flow... I hope you aren't annoyed by that.

    here's mine...

nice image Serpent Star ... no I don't mind changing things ...

I'm surprised I'm so comfortable with this format ... usually I change sizes on people ... I just do what ever my mMuse inspires when I see the posted volley for the first time ...
then it's in my mind and I'm constantly thinking my image looks too much like the previous volley ... it's a trick my mind plays

anyhow, I wasn't seeing your image in the link earlier ...
got it now, but it may be morning before I have a return up
    [my anniversary]
