I got two half eaten husks of corn last week for an international finance company last week.
They did have butter on them though.

Well I was working for an S&P Fortune 500 the other day and for an amazing piece of work I did, they threw me a coupla soggy corn husks that didn't have one niblet of corn left on them - though there was a quite nice salty, slightly buttery fla...
Hey, wait a minute... Nah, couldn't be
(back on subject - make sure that any price ya agree to covers all your time, expenses and leaves a little left over for a night in the town)

£50 an hour. That's $77.71 according to http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/currency/currcalc.html , the best translator on the Net.
So, a real answer for you. On my pricelist an hourly rate is never even mentioned, (they'd hate to find out I earn that, even though a computer repairman charges £40 an hour for running Scandisk or whatever) but that's what it boils down to. I don't work 9-5, I work less than that. Sometimes I'm underemployed, but my business is based at home, so, no real running costs.
I've been doing Flash professionally for 3 years, so I'm fast now and have a back catalogue of my own .fla files to pick actionsscripts etc. from. The faster you get the job done, the higher your hourly rate - if you don't charge by the hour. This site helps me too!

Scott, your article is indeed spot on.
That is probably the best way to approach somebody about the cost of their desired site. I just hope they can understand that analogy in respect to what they are getting, because, like you said, most of these people barely understand what it is they are getting or even asking for.
I'm at a salary 9-7 job now (web, not secretarial!) in NYC but normal rates here don't compare when living is twice as much as anywhere else in the states (except Cali!)
Just trying to find my options ya know.
thnx.
