Lighting..........?

Does any one know of any good tutorials that cover lighting and how to accurately recreate lighting effects. All the images I color on the computer look bland and flat I have trouble imagining the light source, it is like a secret society out there people are skilled but they dont want to share some things or I just cant find what im looking for

try using emboss and backdrop shading :P

in photoshop, I always use bevel/emboss and drop shadow

although I think you're talking about shading 2D stuff....
