Thats a great idea about the arena, Blink!
My water drops can hardly be seen on the 400px sized image - and I made the water so clear you can hardly see it at 800px wide either !! Gonna have to work on it a little more. I noticed - depending on where the water is positioned, that different water effects need to be applied to get the right result. So that water-drop on the left didnt work when I moved it near the soap dish.
Here's a snap of the splash of water near the dish to date:
If any one wants a look, the project can be viewed here.

Nitro,
there's a light brown/grey blob in the sink. That's the ripple. you can just delete it and you'll see the plug. then when you render the water appears very clear. I haven't tried this but i though i might be worth trying a transparent texture like bumps or something for the water?? Your water is looking really realistic much better than just blobs! I'm havin a go at a towel and rack
keep going!

I see it.
Have replaced the brown lathed object with a semicircle lathe and applied a water material with with some noise - giving it a little depth and added reflections within the water object.

i get it! i updated the scene;
http://www.nlc.net.au/~oceana/games/drip.html (73k)
and the t3d
http://www.nlc.net.au/~oceana/games/drip.zip (1.3Mb)
changed the shape of the counter to accomodate the rail and towel
added the rail and towel
added a checkered floor and cornices
muched around with the colors a bit
got rid of all lights and went with just ambient although there are still some shadows which i can't explain??
the counter is sandstone (just for a bit of variety)
I think the towel is a bit plasticky but i'm sure nitro will have something to say about that!

you know you just cannot beat that shower background! exceptional! One other question. If you look at the taps they look like a brushed (dull) chrome. If you look at the mirror frame it looks like polished chrome. They are both the same material but i would like the mirror frame to look more like the brushed (dull) chrome??

The towel is good. I'd like to try and get more of a drape though (i'm workin on it here as well). I wonder if i need to try and model the shape?
And later...wala, one towel;
this extrusion is the upside-down 'u' on the far-left the middle is how i scaled it.
it's like you said in the other post; it's all about scaling;
when you scale the image you scale the texture as well. i'm sure i can make more folds by reducing the scale in the other direction too. it would be nice to get a terry towling bitmap texture as well... guess i gotta go learn corel texture now!

I'm feeling quite clever so i gave myself a new post I squeezed the towel so it's a hand towel with more folds and added a dimpled texture (from corel) with a bit of noise for variety.

Not quite a fluffy as mummy gets it, but who does!
I think there is almost enough here for a tutorial on swift3d textures and i can't think of anyone better to do it than nitro (texture man) charged!!
Thanks

I added some stuff razor, can, pump, "get v3" post-it-note. Mapping the logos/"get v3" stuff took quite a while and i still need to do some work on it. The toothpaste tube is just a lathe with the skinny end hidden behind the glass. I don't know why the chrome blade didn't come up on the razor, i'll have to check it. The pump is the one i did for daniellawson this morning. anyway i think i've hit the wall. it takes 30 seconds from when i click on an object to when it registers as being clicked. (My crappy 440Mhz box). Anyway take it and make it better!

I agree - the scene has become unworkable because of the delays involved. My machine is quite fast and it still has a problem working with this file. (2.0 GHz processor / 512Megs RAM / NVIDIA GeForce2 MX video card)
I hope this doesn't curtail sessions like this where one starts with an idea and others pitch in and contribute
One thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is how to intentionally blur or put out of focus objects / parts of objects that are further away in the scene. Can anyboy shed some light on this for me?
Thanking you in advance,
radesigns

well in more pricy programs they started to use depth of field when rendering, which makes things out of the focas range appear to be blurry, well in swift this doesn't have it, so you render the image out and then put it into your fav art program, in there you add the blur to it with a blur tool
-
supervillain
depth of field is not supported in any of the 3d flash programs.
you will need a full-fledged 3d application like softimage, lightwave, or 3ds max.
or, you could do what Vatcher stated. fake it via photoshop (raster images only).

No need to do post work guys. My files are as you see them - straight out of Swift.
The trick is to import the image already blurred and slap it on an extrusion
There goes another part of an upcoming tutorial down the tube LOL
View another image using this technique here
Keep swifting!

nitro... I just love your solutions. simple, effective.
