    digital style guides

Just a quick question. (I hope this would be the right forum for this, I haven't been here in a while.)

When a client asks someone for a "digital style guide", what does this detail and how would you go about presenting them with one?

been in the business for a while, and never heard of a "digital style guide"...

might want to ask them what they want precisely... in a way that doesnt sound like "i have no clue what you wanted so..."

have you looked here http://www.google.ca/search?q=%22dig...-8&hl=en&meta= ?

this article seems to be explaining it... http://www.ibizbooks.com/book30.htm, maybe?

a style guide is generally something that tells you how to present and form something, such as general grammar, or a company's identity. I can only think that they're asking you how the digital aspects of their company should appear??

I'm new to this whole freelance world and I had noticed a company was asking for a "digital style guide" along with thier corprate identity. I looked all over the net for it and I pretty much gathered what you guys did, it seems to just be a list of guidelines that all future applications and media from that company should follow as far as pallete, type style, and things of that nature. It's just that I would have no clue how to present something like that. Like is it some sort of document on paper they want or some sort of digital file? Thanks for your help though guys!

We have one for our company that was recently done. Pretty much it is what Seapod posted. But in this case it would be in referrence to digital usage. So a list of web and rgb values to be used. The dpi and different file formats to be used for logos and images. What images to be used if they have been purchased. It is pretty much a digital standard operating procedure. It is a great guideline to have and keeps the company identity intact.

Your company style guide is probably confidential, but if you have any other great ones that you can post or post the link to, that would be great. I'm looking for ideas as I create one.

The above links were a great start. Other than that I haven't seen many other than the ones emailed to me by clients. Pretty much it depends on what your designing for.

    Example:

What colors or able to be used: such as a choice of three, one for accent color, one for main color, one for secondary color.

What logo is to be used for which instance. What the min dpi should be for a logo being used.

What fonts are to be used.

Things of that nature. Believe it or not it ends up being a book with examples and everything put together.

Sorry I couldnt find you an example online. Good luck.

I'm aware of all that. Thanks though.

Anyone have any great style guides that they could post? I'm enjoying looking at them. Espaecially modern looking ones. The ones online are somewhat dated.
