dyjytyl.com - 6.0
this is the first REAL site i've done completely on my own. so far i've had no help--just photoshop and dreamweaver, but if you could take a look and let me know what ya think i'd appreciate it.
i'm trying to figure out some stuff in dreamweaver, such as how to get the page to center horizontally AND vertically, but haven't had any luck. i also want to be able to call in different LAYERS with text without having to actually go to a separate page.
keep in mind that you need internet explorer 5.5 or higher to view the customized scrollbars, and all versions of netscape and IE should properly display the layer of text. at least 800x600 resolution should be used, but i really don't know anyone (besides people in this school) that use anything lower than that. too high of a resolution and most all you see if the black background, but i'm still tryin to figure out how to stretch it some and center it.
anyway, thanks and enjoy

Here is your code, add this to your body tag to center site in browser..Although you will now have to loose the layer text which I have no idea why you did it that way in the first place..A simple textarea would be suffice..Anyways:

hey wait.. i've been doin LAYERS just because I don't know what else I CAN do--you sayin there's an easier way? Layers won't stay still, and if they do I can't position them right. Tell me more about this deal where I can do this textarea? I tried it and it's just an ugly text box and i can't position it on top of the image. Or are you saying I should make a cell and make the background the same so i can keep text in there? What you sayin?
Thanks a mill for the centering help--I gotta figure out what's goin on and how to get this code exactly right. Confuses me when messing with code sometimes

ahhhh BLESS IT!
critic--your genius enough to get the code to center the bugger, can you figure out my problem with the layer? it's not locking into position man. is there any alternative to this gay layer crap?
just take a look: www.dyjytyl.com . i cut out the top cuz it was irrelevant and too big for 800x600 users. i plan on doing this in a hijacked window if i can friggin figure it out man--but as for the layers, i dont know what to do about that.
thanks for the help--all i do is beg that you not leave me hangin here.

Just loose the layers man, make the image the background of the table it's in, place the text over the top of the image..Very simple process..Don't make more out of this then it has to be..
Why paddle a boat across the ocean when you can fly..
Have fun......

i see what you're saying. slice out the middle, make it a cell, set the background, and place text... but what about the scroll part? do cells support overflow auto scrolling?
thanks man
-
ok mr. critic, you're the one who lead me to this point--so take a final look and offer some final input on what needs fixed (if anything by lordy). it took me a long time to tweak the about page so instead of using scrollbars i just use cells, but i still wish you had a suggestion to use scrollbars. i hate the way it is on the about page but that's all i could get it to. thanks for any final suggestions.

Use this to add your text area, change the background color of the text area to any color you want, also the scroll bar..
Or you can use css to control both if you wanted to set it up that way..
<TEXTAREA COLS="25" ROWS="5" STYLE="scrollbar-base-color:#0033CC;scrollbar-arrow-color:#FFFFFF;background:#FFFF99;" name="code">
Text in the box
Text in the box
Text in the box
Text in the box
Text in the box
</TEXTAREA>

Fan of Doritos
pretty good for your first completly original design, try to add a little bit of interactivity

I'd update the site except for the fact that I'm in Naperville atm We'll be moving here by the end of the year (which means high speed internet hehe), but I appreciate your guys' feedback and help. I'll be sure to add the scrollbar code when I get home and I really appreciate the help critic.
Thanks!

wow
I like the site, the images are a little disorted, could be clearer, but I like them. You actually seem a LOT like me! My name is also Jerad, notice spelled different, and I am 14. I'm almost as good at flash as you are in photoshop, you have awsome skills. I read some of your stuff and it said you have like a buisness? I'd like to learn more about you. If you want you can e-mail me or just talk to me on AIM, its lawrencergroup. Cool site and keep it up!

hey--i was gonna email ya critic, but you're not accepting email so i'll see if you can answer some questions i have (sorry to be buggin ya)
i've spent a good 1 1/2 hours on figuring out how to format this textarea. I really wish there was an easier way to do this--it's extremely frustrating and I haven't even figured out how to individually format text (html usage is not permitted in a textarea)..
is there a way to use html in a textarea or am i missing something? i figured out the rest (borders, background, formatting, etc) and would appreciate help on the textarea problem i'm having. i want the textarea to make everything look the same, that's what i'm getting at here.
given that would work, i think that should be it. i'm going to be using chromeless windows (hijacked windows) when i'm completely finished, but I'll probably give the user an option to enter the html or the java version in case their browsers aren't supportive of both.
thanks and i appreciate your help! sorry this is taking so long!
