i want to do some flat eric style puppetering, but im not sure how to go about it. making the puppet is easy, but i dont know how i would go about animating it. i have worked with traditional film a fair amount, but this is my first attempt at adding puppets into the equation.

flat eric had things moving in the frame other than itself, which would lead me to beleave they either animated it in real time, or animated seperatly and edited into the background. the later i could do pretty easily, but i would rather do it in real time.

also how would i physicaly animate it? would i have to install some kind of bone system inside the puppet and use it to bend the puppet, or would i use a hand up the ass method?

Strangely enough, I did a Flat Eric FLASH cartoon about two and a half years ago as a joke for some people at work...man...I'd forgotten all about it. I didn't know who Flat Eric was, and heck, I still don't get it, but it was fun to work on the 'toon back then!!

Gotta take that OFF my resume' !!!!

flat eric was a charcter on the levis jeans adverts. i thought they were shown worldwide, but obviously not.

what about some cheap transparent fishing line?
well, I think u can do it with very simple tricks, just use your creativity
